CSM needing now needing to be enabled to post

CSM is now needed to be enabled on my motherboard when I previously was able to leave it disabled. I'm not sure if I messed something up, but now if I disable csm there will be no post screen shown at all and it will sometimes boot to windows and sometimes nothing. I have a i7 3960x with an asus x79 rampage 4 gene motherboard with a gtx 1070. Is something dying on my hardware or could this be from forgetting to disable csm after resettting bios? I dont know if it is a windows issue since there is no post at all with it enabled now. Thanks!
