Trade Titan X for Vega 56??

I have a Titan X Hybrid (liquid + air cooled). I have bios flashed it, massively overclocked it and can get 134% on userbenchmark. I love it as it runs real cool and quiet. (67 C max) (ambient in my country is 29 - 36 C year round)

I also am thinking of upgrading my display to have adaptive sync in the next 6 months.

Obviously G-SYNC monitors are expensive.

I have never tried any forms of adaptive syncs although my old 2010 laptop had a 120hz screen (no sort of syncs) and I definitely realize its a big jump compared with 60hz monitors

Question is, would you trade a Titan X for a Gigabyte Vega 56 and maybe get max $20 extra.

Is it only worth it if it has Samsung memory and I can flash a V64 bios?

Does the V56 overclock well to match my UBM score?

I HATED the incredibly loud ASUS RX 580: https://www.asus.com/Graphics-Cards/DUAL-RX580-O4G/ in my spare rig so much so that I sold it.

Does this V56 : https://www.gigabyte.com/us/Graphics-Card/GV-RXVEGA56GAMING-OC-8GD#kf go as loud as my old ASUS RX 580?

Notably, my Titan X is out of warranty and the V56 still has at least 2 yrs of warranty left.

Also, hey the V56 was used to do mining.

Is that a Maxwell Titan X or Pascal Titan X? Anyway my principle is to never swap to a slower card for adaptive sync, that's dumb.

Gigabyte Vega cards are not just the loudest, but also carry the worst VRM of all the Vega cards (not horrible on its own, but other Vega cards are better). It's not even reference PCB in format, so aftermarket cooling that fits the reference Vega most likely won't fit the Gigabyte Vega 56.

If it's a Titan X Mawell, yes, X Pascal, no. Unless you really can't afford the GSync tax.

Swapping the card you currently have for a Gigabyte Vega 56?  Do not do it.  With the card, and the cooling you've got, I'm sure you can tune it so you don't NEED G Sync in order to have a good experience.  

 

Like @Jurrunio said, that particular Vega 56 is not very good. The only two Vega 56 cards worth getting, and the only two that would be a side step instead of a downgrade from your current card would be the Asus Strix Vega 56 or the Sapphire Nitro+ Vega 56. 

 

 

Free Sync is pretty great.  I have a Sapphire Nitro+ Vega 56, and I'm loving it.  I can't really compare it personally to anything else because its really the only graphics card I've ever owned haha.

The only way its worth it if you powermod the vega like gamers nexus did and oc it to an insane clockspeed etc. but you must keep in mind that it eats away 500W when powermodded and oced

When you're toying with graphics cards of the $$ like that, it makes me wonder how bad the G-sync tax really is to make you consider changing? What price difference are we talking here.

It's a pretty big up charge.  The up charge on an "apples to apples" comparison of a Free Sync monitor to a G Sync monitor can be anywhere from $200 - $300 in my findings.  Currently, on NewEgg, the least expensive G Sync monitor is $350, while the least expensive Free Sync monitor is $120.  Granted, the G Sync model is 27" 1080p, 144hz and 1ms input time.  While the Free Sync 24" 1080p, 75hz, and 1ms input time.  But for $170, you can get a Free Sync monitor of the same size and general spec as the G Sync model at $350. 

 

Will the color, and picture quality be the same on these two monitors?  I don't know.  But the most frustrating thing about G Sync, to me, is that it doesn't have an "entry level" category because it's an actual piece of hardware manufacturers have to buy and install into the monitor, raising their overhead quite a bit.  While, Free Sync, is all handled with software...and that software might be free if I'm not mistaken.  (someone correct me on that if I'm wrong)
