Can my motherboard handle this storage

 Share

I am finally buying my first PC and I have some knowledge from watching videos on youtube.

In my PC part picker list one compatibility trouble shoot is that the motherboard m.2 slot shares bandwidth with a SATA 6gb/s port and thus is disabled when the m.2 slot is populated. The motherboard I have chosen says it has 6 SATA 6 gb/s slots so I should have no issues with this build right?

Just want to clear it up so I'm not making a mistake. https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/dNG9pG

You're good man, generally the MOBO will have something marked on it that differentiates the ports that are disabled when you have a M.2 installed, if not, the MOBO manual should show something

You're absolutely fine.

You just have to know which SATA port is disabled and plug your HDD into a different one. :)

You also may have to enable the M.2 port in the bios.
