Capture card monitor needs to be the same?

Starrynight

I am getting an elgato 4k pro capture card for my second pc so it can be my streaming pc (tr 1950x, 32 gigs ram, gtx 1050, etc) for my gaming computer (8700k, rtx 2080, 16 gigs ram) where i'll be playing PC Games. I've heard a lot about screen tearing being a real issue even with capture cards and something about the monitors needing to be the same? Do they have to be the exact same refresh rate / resolution? IE I need both the gaming monitor and streaming pc where the capture card is to be a 240hz 1080p if one is? Trying to be as tearless as possible and heard there is some kind of issue with the monitors.

Don’t see why you would get the 4K version to use a 1080p montor.

Also so you can duplicate the image, so it can’t tear on the gaming monitor, won’t be capturing those frames though. 60hz only but I have mine set to 120 in obs though I doing it’s really doing it.

If you are gonna use the pass through option, yes it’s gonna tear far worse than you could ever imagine.
