WD Black vs Seagate Barracuda

My new build will have 500gb NvMe but I want to have 2TB HDD for my games. I keep getting opinions on these drives as the best. Which of the 2 would be better to hold my games?

but really, the better choice between the two is whichever is priced better in your area.

the barracuda is half the price of the WD black but I wasn't sure if the WD black gave me more value.

On specs alone, the Seagate drive has the most value for it. I really don't see a reason to get the WD Black at that price point.

WD Black is supposed to be really nice, fast for an HDD, and dependable, but a bit on the loud side. The Barracuda is also all of those though (except loud), I have 2 of the 2TB ones rn, and another in a rig I gave away, I've had 3 or 4 total and never had issues with them. I'd just go with the Barracuda.

Been using Seagate Barracuda all my life to no disappointment.

Get whatever is cheaper honestly. Though out of all the WD and Seagate drives I've had the Seagates have always outlasted the WD ones regardless of how old they are.

At this point, the Barracuda. It's newer, has a lower price, and performs about the same across the spectrum.

Buy the Seagate Barracuda and save yourself $60. The WD Blacks are a relic of a time where you needed a "HIGH PERFORMANCE" HDD because SSDs didn't exist or were too expensive.

You could buy the 2TB Seagate Barracuda and a 250GB Samsung 860 evo for $108 - less than the cost of the WD Black 2TB.
