Should i wait for the new amd gpus 3000 series?

Anas Dweik

Hi.

I am planning to upgrade my gpu

Is it worth to wait for amd rx 3080? For 250$?

If yes will it bottleneck with the i5 6600k since they said the card is going to be vega 64 +15%?

My current gpu is r9 390x devil powercolor

If the GPU's bearable, wait. If not, replace with Vega 56 or 1070ti or higher.

If might be beneficial to wait until CES in January as we are only a month away from that,.

My rule of thumb is there will always be a new thing coming out. If your current GPU does what you need it to do you can wait. If it doesn't do what you need it to do then buy something now.

So it would bottleneck in gtx 1080 range ?

maybe, but that's as good as an upgrade can be. bottleneck is not the plague, it shouldn't be avoided this aggressively.

Even if it did bottleneck, you're still getting more performance than you have now. Just because something isn't performing to it's full potential doesn't mean that isn't performing excellently.

If you can wait, wait. It's not like we're that far off.

What's the harm in waiting?  If the new AMD cards are just hype, oh well pick up a Vega 56 and call it a day. haha. If Navi is in the ball park of what the leaks are implying, then it sounds like it's certainly worth the wait.  Just don't get your hopes up.

If it's literally all about price, then you should have bought about a month ago.  Crazy GPU deals at newegg all November.  That being said, post holiday sales can be pretty epic as well, the 26th to 31st of December is the last push retailers have to close the year out.  The selection might not be as nice, but you might be able to find some good deals then.
