CX650M Enough for 2080 and OC 2700x

4super1

Hi everyone i currently have a 2700x 4.2ghz oc and 1070. Im getting a 2080 this month but i have a 750w evga psu atm. The problem is that the psu is modular and only has 1 8 pin cable. It runs well but its not gonna be enough for the msi 2080. So i bought a cx650m but i wanna make sure its enough for my hardware, Thanks (Sister gifted me the PSU)

Why wouldn't you buy a higher end PSU if you're getting high end hardware to begin with?
The PSU is really the last thing you should penny pinch on. Especially when we're talking a mere $30 or $40 to step up significantly.

There are many ways you could get more modular cables. Which EVGA PSU was it? Supernova? A modular PSU can always be filled up with cables.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

So i bought a cx650m but

that's how it goes right? buy it first, and then check if it's the right thing.

snarky comments aside, there's something to be said about pairing a nice system with a nice power supply, but if you dont go crazy with the cpu OC it should at least suffice.. just like a lambo can drive just fine on knockoff tyres.

Imo you're misinterpreting the PSU tier list. Tier 3 should be low-mid end, as that is what the CX/CXM is in my eyes.

Also, the G1 is not high end; it's roughly on the same level as the focus+ which is mid-range. I recommend a corsair RMx 2018 650W/750W.

disagree. tier 3/c is like the good enough psu's. Would recommend the rmx too, but there are many more great choises at that pricepoint

Good enough. It's the lowest tier I would recommend for anything (tier 4 and below are mostly garbage old group regulated / bad protections PSUs).

true. so it's good enough. everything under it is old or unreliable. We're kinda making the same point here
