144hz monitor playing game at 100fps

If I went into NVIDIA control panel and set with the resolution 100hz instead of 144hz and played the game capped at 100fps would I get screen tearing?

From my experience any screen tearing just comes at a game by game basis. It won't hurt to try, you can always set it back. You can also consider using freesync or gsync if you have an appropriate monitor. Remember that if you have an 2000 series ryzen you can still enable freesync with an nvidia gpu.

@AAaaa21 I plan to get a amd gpu soon since I could use free sync im just curious because technically the monitor would refresh at the same rate as the game.
