Threadripper 1950X and 3600Mhz Memory

Recently built a threadripper rig for a friend of mine, and all was well. The next day or 2 he was getting a lot of crashing, so we started dropping the various overclocks and settings we changed. After some tinkering we found that his XMP profile for 3600Mhz was causing the crash. Any ideas why?

The 1950X's integrated memory controller is not the greatest with high speed memory. My 2950X handled quad channel 3600 fairly easily. Not the same story w/ the 1950X and the same kit.

3600mhz is likely way too high

Just set the XMP profile, put the voltage to 1.4V for the memory only, then drop the speed to like 3000-3200mhz

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...
