M.2 NVME to PCI-e

Mind_001

I heard of these devices, but is this one any good?

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA6V87HX5336&Description=m.2 pci-e adapter&cm_re=m.2_pci-e_adapter-_-9SIA6V87HX5336-_-Product

I can't find any "professional" reviews on it. It also looks badarse and is 67% off. Was $59.95, now $19.74 (for now)

I am using this for storage, not OS booting.

Reviews look ok so I'd guess it'd be fine. My only question though would be why? Why not just use an m.2 slot

Buy whatever product is best for you, not what product is "best" for the market.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

My board, that I am going to buy in a few months, says this:

Quote

AMD Ryzen 2nd Generation / Ryzen with Radeon Vega Graphics / Ryzen 1st Generation Processors
- M.2_1 socket 3 with M Key, Type 2242/2260/2280/22110 (PCIE 3.0 x4 and SATA modes) storage devices support
AMD 7th Generation A-Series/Athlon X4 Processors
- M.2_1 socket 3 with M Key, Type 2242/2260/2280/22110 (SATA mode) storage devices support

AMD X470 Chipset:
- M.2_2 socket 3* with M Key, Type 2242/2260/2280 (PCIE 3.0 x2 and SATA modes) storage devices support
* The M.2_2 socket shares PCIe clock with PCIeX1_1, when PCIeX1_1 or PCIeX1_3 are occupied, M.2_2 only can support SATA mode.

I am going to use this with a Ryzen 5 2600.

So it has two, but it doesn't... I have a 256 Samsung 870 EVO for system boot.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean... it seems to me that the M.2_1 would work, no? It does support PCIe 3.0 x4 SSDs

Do you mean the 970 evo? Just making sure because if you mean the 860 evo that's a SATA m.2 SSD not a pcie m.2 ssd

My mistake. I currently have a 250GB Samsung 960 EVO M.2.

I just now bought a new 500GB SAMSUNG 970 EVO M.2

I want to use both in my system. Currently, my board has only 1x slot. My future motherboard has 2x M.2 ports BUT like it said, if I use up the Pcie x1, it will run in SATA mode.

That make sense?
