Drive will not show up in File Explorer

Hello all,

This is my first post on the forum so if I do anything wrong let me know.

Anyways, I bought an ADATA SU800 SSD off amazon about six months ago to be used in an external enclosure to give myself a cheap portable SSD. I mainly store my photography on it when I travel, so all the data on it is backed up. The other day I plugged it into my desktop to transfer my latest pictures on it and it did not show up in File Explorer. The enclosure had an activity LED and it was on so I checked Disk Management and it was there. I took the drive out of the enclosure and plugged it up using an external hard drive reader and the same thing happened. When I plugged the drive into my laptop it showed up in File Explorer and I could access the data on it. Went back to the desktop and it was not in File Explorer again.

So, I'm stuck. I need some help. It is under warranty so I could get a new one from ADATA, but I would love to try and fix it if I can. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Go to the disk management and assign a drive letter.

It happens sometimes, if it can be viewed in disk management it should be fine.

I suggest you empty the drive (backup all the files) and redo the initialization and disk formatting.
