Worth shooting higher for I5-8600K?

I will soon be upgrading my PC and I8 currently have a motherboard that supports my I5-7400 and a 1060 3gb I will be upgrading to a 1070ti and I was wondering if the about £100 increase in price is worth it for the I5-8600K since if I chose the I5-7600K I wouldn't have to buy a new motherboard. So the question is: Is the boost in performance worth it and will an I5-7600K bottleneck my GPU at 1080p normal gaming and Vr using the Vive (also streaming sometimes).

If anyone could help I would be really grateful as I've given lots of thought to this and still don't have a decision.

the 8600k has 2 more cores and 2 more threads... but the benchmarks below show only an 11% increase on average.

but is your motherboard a Z270 board or a non z board? if its non z, you won't be getting the chance to overclock it.

You could an i7-7700K and not overclock, there's a 6% difference between that and the 8600K.

 

Worth noting that you will need a new motherboard for the 8600K.

The i7-7700K would cost more but I think you guys are right since it has more threads which is good for my stream and also a higher base clock and since I arent overclocking that's really useful and finally just to make it even better there is on in stock, unlike the i5-7600K. Thanks very much guys.

Sorry to reopen this thread and ask you two again but would saving £50 and getting the 6700k be better than getting the 7700k? @TH3R34P3R @Crunchy Dragon

7700K is 8% better than the 6700K.

8600K is 15% better than the 6700K.

8600K is 5% better than the 7700K.

 

Personally, I'd say not unless you're on a tighter budget and can't afford the 7700K, in which case a 6700K is basically the best you'll get.
