BIOS says my cpu is -55 degrees.... what?

my bios says my cpu is -55 degrees... 

 

normally that wouldn't be a problem, but it won't allow the cpu fan to spin because of it. 

 

in Windows i can monitor it with core temp just fine so the cpu thermal sensor is fine.

Thats normal in BOIS. Ive always had funky readings in BIOS and normal in windows.

The obvious truth is your sensor is reporting and incorrect temp (obviously). If this is only happening in the bios then I wouldn't be too worried... you can always try updating the bios which might fix it.

already updated the bios, which did nothing. liek i said, usually i wouldn't be worried, but it won't let the cpu fan spin at any temperature.

yes it is lol, i just rebuilt my whole machine into a different case (but this problem was there before) and i made sure it's plugged in. 

also it spins before the machine posts...

like i said if i push the power button, it spins for a second, and then it stops once it posts. 

 

also i'm able to set the fan connected to the system fan plug to work together with the cpu fan, and then that one doesn't spin either, so it's not the fan. it's the bios not letting it spin.
