Semi related (though loubot posted the right cable type anyway) i had a friend who had a external wifi adapter and wanted better signal. So he bought an extension cable. I presumed he was gonna just move it higher up from his case, he ran the damn cable with the little antenna stand all the way across the house and to the wifi router.

I told him to buy a damn ethernet cable and he said he didnt need ethernet, wifi was fast enough.

I could do that as well, would've been cheaper just buying an ethernet cable but oh well. Good idea!

If you can, an ethernet cable is much more reliable than wifi.

I do have an ethernet cable but not sure if it is long enough.
