Amid legal investigations into their practices, materials for Bethesda's canvas bags have suddenly become available

Delicieuxz

As you might recall, purchasers of the Power Armour edition of Fallout '76 were promised a nice-looking canvas bag. However, the actual bag that Bethesda shipped ended up being a much-inferior nylon bag that didn't resemble what was advertised, with Bethesda, after first saying that the advertised canvas version was simply too expensive to make to actually give to its buyers, next cited a lack of available... canvas material?

Understandably, gamers, and most of all buyers of the $200 USD Power Armour edition of Fallout '76 have taken serious issue with the bait-and-switch, and also with the 'don't give a f*' responses from Bethesda. And this has added to the larger gamer community outrage surrounding Fallout '76, and has also prompted investigation into Bethesda's business practices, which could manifest into a class-action lawsuit against Bethesda.

So, perhaps to avoid that outcome, but also perhaps to alleviate some of the extremely bad rep Bethesda is gathering due many other issues related to Fallout '76, Bethesda has decided that, unavailability of materials be darned, they're going to actually make what they promised buyers of Fallout '76 Power Armour edition. And, Bethesda have announced that manufacturing plans for the canvas bag are being finalized.

Take note that if you purchased the Power Armour edition, in order to receive a canvas bag you'll have to submit a ticket to the given link by January 31st.

I'm glad that Power Armour edition Fallout '76 purchasers are going to get the bag that they paid for. However, this doesn't lift my misgivings about Bethesda as a company because I personally see all of this mess as another example of what has been a consistent part of Bethesda's character going back over a decade. And if you're interested is reading an expose on that side of Bethesda's history, I've put together a lengthy review of other problematic practices of Bethesda in this post:

I hope most people don't fall for this tease by Bethesda and instead join the class-action that seems to be coming from this. If you own the power armor edition then please don't forfeit your right to join the suit.

The problem is that they are now sending people what they paid for so there isn't much of a case anymore. It's hard to go complain in a law suit that they didn't give you the proper bag when they are actually doing just that with this measure. I don't think the law suit will work tbh.

Considering that it is blatant false advertisement on their part and the legal grey area of not refunding digital copies to the majority that hate the game I believe that they still have a strong case ahead of them. Hopefully the case will go through and set an example of Bethesda.

Seeing as they are giving people the bags they advertised it's hard to claim false advertising at this point. Also not refunding digital copies of things has been around for a long time and isn't something they can really get them on. The whole case is about false advertisement essentially and they are going to lose tbh. They have delivered everything they said they would in one form or another.

Sheep. The moment the issue is "magically" fixed everything is back to normal and Bethesda being praised for fixing it in such a timely matter /s. Nevermind that something like this shouldn't have happened in the first place. I wish there were mass charge-backs/refunds but I very much doubt it'll happen.

Sounds like an accountant looked at the cost of the canvas bags and screamed in management's ear that lawyers would cost 100s to 1000s of times as much.

One of my coworkers had preordered the game's collector's edition and received the nylon bag like so many others.

Barely a week later, the bag was torn when he put the helmet inside. Bethesda basically said "tough luck" when he contacted them about it.
