Which higher end X470 should I choose?

So I made a few threads recently since I'm still in the process of completing my build. So I really appreciate everyone that's adding their 2cents. 
 

Right now I am using the X470 Gaming 5 but feel limited with overclocking features although I have the RAM running pretty damn well atm. I just purchased an H150i Pro from Corsair, basically for looks at this point but also because of the fact that I may very well upgrade once AMD releases the next version of Ryzen. Anyway, which motherboard will have good (don't care about best if they will all get me to the same place) overclocking capabilities?

 

I've narrowed it down to the following, I don't want to go as high as the Asus Crosshair with this build.

 

X470 Gaming 7 <--this is my most expensive option I am considering

X470 MSI M7 <-- Eh, convince me if you think it's worthy...

X470 Asus Strix <-- Probably the easiest to use and will probably do exactly what I need, and of course uses Aura Sync

X470 Taichi (not ultimate) <-- This one I can get on sale and would probably be the best for overclocking?

 

I'm thinking the X470 Strix as I just used the B450 Strix before the Gaming 5 I have in now and LOVED it, just didn't like the fact I was sacrificing so much performance and features. The Taichi is very beautiful as well but it lacks RGB functions and I read the BIOS isn't great but I don't care about that as much as long as I can achieve both my RAM and CPU overclock to it's fullest potential. I think this board would be best bet, I'm kind of between this one and the Strix...?

If the Taichi stays $160 after mail in rebate tomorrow morning, I think that's my pick. Probably the best board in the lineup I made above, with the exception of maybe the Gigabyte Gaming 7. Without rebate the Taichi and Strix are both the same price for me and mail in rebate doesn't mean much, so I think the Taichi will beat the Strix in overclocking, features, and future proofing (VRMs, and for next gen Ryzen)..

 

Thoughts? Sell my computer and get a Nintendo Switch?

I can't speak to others but I love my Asus X470 ROG Crosshair VII Hero, it has been super solid and great for OC'ing my 1700 the ROG Strix motherboard is quite similar.

I'd rather wait till X570. If board makers push more powerful boards on X570 like they did on Z390, you will regret buying now

Does it have similar features for overclocking? In my previous thread,  @nick name said the Crosshair has features that overclock the XFR/PBO. Will the X470-F Strix have that feature?  I really don't want to spend another $100+ at this point on a board yielding similar returns for far less. I really do want it, though lol.

There's maybe a $30 price difference since I have the Gaming 5 now and will be returning it, and I don't want to be stuck with it in case it's not worth upgrading or the release date is pushed back and back like Intel does...

Getting a new board then realize their new 16 core overclocks like mad and draws 350w won't be a good surprise either. It still depends on what core count though

That I can't tell you for sure, Asus's website should have that info. And if you don't want to spend the extra on the CR7 then don't blow your budget.

All X470 ROG boards have the feature I was mentioning earlier.  So that includes the Crosshair VII, but you can get the feature cheaper with the Strix.

Have coulpe of Taichis and they been the best overclocking motherboards I've had in years. Love the design, it's very solid motherboard with excellent bios. Easy bios and also plenty of advanced overclocking options if you are more into advanced overclocker.

I bought mine over 200$, right now at that price that motherboard it's insane.

That's probably the only reason I would get it is because it's a steal at the $160 price range and I'm pretty sure I heard it has one of the best vrms which will help with next gen ryzen.

I meant to say that if I keep what I have now and upgrade later on both the motherboard and processor, I still rather spend $30 more, now, for a better board, then regretting later that I hadn't. Chances are I would upgrade both anyway. Like the jump from z370 to z390. Makes z370 look like budget boards.

If you didn't have the Crosshair, would you get the x470-f or the taichi? If those were the only options..

That's why I said you should wait. If Zen 2 do bring 16 core CPUs to the table then X570 boards will definitely be beefed up a lot, making boards you listed look like mid range boards.

 

btw the highest current rating of the boards you listed is the MSI M7 at 600A, followed by the Asus C7H at 500A. However the MSI boards dont have offset mode for core voltage yet which is bad news if you want to play with PBO

Yeah with no voltage offset the MSI is a no go.

Good thing I checked back. Ordering right now! Thanks, I was about to order the taichi but wanted a reason to go with strix. That does it. Plus matches my build better.

Because at the $160 price point, is it not a good deal? Everywhere I have asked it has been recommended. Although this is the first thread I have made asking between the Strix and the Taichi. The Taichi is the same as the Taichi Ultimate, without the same LAN/Ethernet and I think maybe one less feature, so it's suppose to be a really good board.

 

But I like the Strix more, too lol. Can't go wrong w/that.

Oh, yeah I guess that's not a terrible deal at all.  I just firmly believe the Performance Enhancers on the ASUS ROG boards are something you can't live without.

I hope so lol. I'm happy with my decision! I really liked the b450-f when I tried it so this will be even better..
