is GT 1030 good for light gaming?

I understand that, but you can definitely find a reliable PSU upgrade for a very low price that will fit a small budget - even if that requires you to wait a little longer. As you see, many of us strongly recommend that.

And do you have any way to earn over 50 euros?

I was able to buy a fully modular 450w EVGA 80+ gold rated PSU from their weekly B stock sales for $20 a few months ago. It works great in my local file server pc, and would be great in a lower-end gaming PC with a 1050 Ti as well.

I haven't seen this mentioned on this thread enough: THE 90€ GT 1030 IS PROBABLY THE DDR4 VERSION WHICH IS COMPLETE TRASH. If you are buying a gt 1030 make sure it is the DDR5 version!!!

Once again I will point out that the 1050 and 1050ti's by and large don't require any external power. They are 100% powered by the motherboard and would work in this situation.

If you just want people to agree that a 1030 is the best move, then you probably came to the wrong place. The 1050 is a better card from a perf/$ point of view and for slightly more you can get a 1050ti which gives you another perf boost.

Also maybe I missed this, but have you ever given us details about the rest of your system? If it is prebuilt give us a model and brand. If not give us all the information you know off hand.

The more information you can give us, the more accurate and relevant the response will be. That being said the 1050(TI) would still work in pretty much any system, just some system setups might require the LP version (low profile).

so, i need to pick a card that could run older titles such as S.T.A.L.K.E.R, Cossacks, Survarium, Banished etc.. would GT 1030 be able to run those games? im not into AAA games because they only focus on MP experience and i am a SP guy.

The GT 1030 I would get has these specs:

Asus GT 1030 2gb

Core Clock 1531mhz

Memory Clock Speed 6008mhz

Cuda Cores 384

Also I could over clock it it has big fan

for very light gaming. gtx 1060s are starting to drop in price

I would like to mention that

1) the 750ti comes in low profile so get one of those, it does not require the 6 pin atx cable.

2) The original video you had showcased of the gt 1030 vs gtx 750ti was with a PENTIUM G4560 which would be the main bottleneck in that system.

3) Some benchmark websites declare a 20% better performance with the 750ti so the 4-3 fps improvement in the video is purely bittlenecked.

4) Sure go with the 1030 if you want. Even Austin Evans used it for their video, which shows that it is a (not too) decent card.

I hope you make your mind up.

Used to be everywhere in LTT forums, had a break which lasted apparently 1 year LOL.

Gonna get up againnnn.

If you cant afford a GTX 1050, then you probably cant afford anything worth while. I will reiterate that the GTX 1050 and 1050Ti's are very easy to find that dont need external PSU power; meaning your PSU is a non-issue. As for your GT 1030, the GDDR5 version is decent enough; but the DDR4 version performs worse than any other modern GPU on the market. If you want an idea of how the GDDR5 version performs, here you go:

Brands I wholeheartedly reccomend (though do have flawed products): Apple, Razer, Corsair, Asus, Gigabyte, bequiet!, Noctua, Fractal, GSkill (RAM only)

Wall Of Fame (Informative people/People I like): @Glenwing @DrMacintosh @Schnoz @TempestCatto @LogicalDrm @Dan Castellaneta

A used low profile version of the RX 560 is a good contender. It is very close to the same performance but at (I'm in the UK) £30 less (€33)

Also a rx460 is a little slower but still much better than gt 1030 and can be found on ebay for a bit less than an rx 560.

Dammit! I have one question:

Do you trust your PSU? Is it certified(80 plus) or from a reputable company?

If yes then try buying a small sata to 6 pin atx adapter which can power the gpu.

Otherwise you are really trapped into only being able to buy a gt 1030 or a low profile rx 460/560 for about the same (or a little less)than a gtx 1050
