Best Intel LGA775 CPU for G41 Chipset?

Hi guys, as the title says..

This is for my father's PC. I just upgraded some of the components case, CPU cooler, and added a graphics card. Tonight he was complaining about how slow the PC is.. ?

So I might get a better CPU than the current Core 2 Duo E7500, and the ram is unknown DDR3 2x2Gb 1066MHz.

The motherboard is ECS G41T-M12 v.1 LGA775 and spports up to 8Gb DDR3 dual Chanel RAM (FSB 1333/1066/800 MHz), and will keep the motherboard up and running.

Could anyone give me the best shot to upgrade either the CPU or both CPU+RAM for this Motherboard?

Thnkyou all on behalf of my father..

Thanks for the recommendation, but still want to get what I'm looking for just for the fun of disassemble and reassemble them again for the lowest cost possible and benchmark it and give it back to him. Also I will practice to delid a CPU with the Core 2 Duo E7500 before I'm ready to delid my 8700K.. ?

I pretty sure core 2s are soldered, and as for CPU, core 2 quad Q9550

hahaha.. I didn't know that.. Thanks for the information.. appreciate it!

The Q9550 is the best? how about Q9650?

Alternatively, you can get an LGA771 processor. This isn't plug and play, but involves adding CPU definitions for other chips into your BIOS, applying a small decal to the bottom of the chip, and slightly altering the socket to allow the replacement processor to fit. Price is an advantage, as the high-end consumer CPUs (like the Q9550 and higher) always command a premium on the used market, but you can usually get the equivalent-performing Xeon for about half the price. Since you seem interested in experimenting with things, you might want to consider it. The write-ups are mainly found at https://www.delidded.com/lga-771-to-775-adapter/
