Dula monitor setup issue

Hi,

I have been using my laptop for about a year now and decided to get a monitor to go along with it. When I tried it it worked fine until i tried extending my desktop to both monitors.  If I expand the monitor shows no signal but the laptop screen still works. I clean installed all the drivers, fielded with the settings but nothing works. 

I have a Dell Inspiron 7577 (i7 7700hq, Intel HD 630 graphics, gtx 1050ti, 16gb RAM, Windows 10 Version 1803...) and a ViewSonic vx2458-c-mhd. I connected them via HDMI. I don't have any experiences with external monitors from before. If I try the only monitor option it doesn't work either.
