Has anyone fit a NH-D15 in a NZXT H500,400, or 200?

atavax

For the H500, and 200, the cpu clearance says 165mm. Which is exactly the height of the NH-D15 with fans. So I'm curious if you can fit it in or if you really need an extra mm or two for clearance.

NH-D15S (same as the D15, slight offset for better compatibility with RAM and PCIe slots) fits in an S340, barely, and the clearance on that is 160mm. The D15/15S are about 160mm high, I have about 1mm or so of clearance, so you should have 6mm free space in between your cooler and side panel.

so thats with fans, corrrect? The Specs for the D15 says 160mm without fans and 165mm with fans.

edit: ok, the D15S says 160 with fans.

You may have a hard time with two fans, I had to mount mine vertically to run two fans, because otherwise the second messes with my RAM. But your case has 165mm of clearance anyways, so if the cooler is 165mm with fans it should just barely fit.

There you go! No problems to put the side panel on.

Warning!

1. Installing the D15 when motherboard has been installed in the case will give you pain in the fan installation (clipping the fans onto the heatsink).

2. Installing the D15 on the motherboard outside the case before you install the motherboard in the case will give you pain screwing the motherboard to its mounting inside the case.

Both gives same pain.

So prepare yourself and do handle with extreme care as D15 is huge and heavy and the working space is narrow.

I can say this because I faced the same problem on installing D15 inside Phanteks Evolv ITX. I think the H200 will be more difficult to work because its top of the case doesn't have as much space as the Evolv ITX has, to install the cooler fan after the motherboard has been installed inside the case. I can remove the Evolv ITX top modular fan mounts to get better access on installing the D15 fans, while NZXT H200 doesn't have roomy top section to work with.

lol, that is almost identical to what i'm planning on doing. Its very nice to see it fit. It even looks like there is room to raise the fan to give more space for ram. I have a EVGA hybrid cooler for my 1080ti and then right now i have a nzxt x52 krakken which i hope to replace with an air cooler without much cooling loss. Right now i can't get the fan on the hybrid cooler's radiator to fit since i upgraded my cpu/mobo into itx, placing the cpu pump closer to the rear fan mount. So i'm getting the H200 monday, move everything over then; and will probably get a D15 as soon as a new version with new 140mm fans comes.

yeah, i'll just make my roommate with her tiny hands help. Also, through my crude measurements it looks like my ram is going to fit between the cooler and the fan, So i shouldn't even need to move the fan up!

To clip the fans on to the heatsink needs some force to pull the clips until they reach the furthest hook and some precision to set properly, these are not easy task as the space is so limited and the heatsink occupies the space from you, maybe you still underestimate the difficulties of installing this huge heavy cooler inside this type of case, especially when you still want to use the rear exhaust case fan so it will also acts as the 3rd fan for the D15, but soon you'll see it yourself..

Yes, correct! The RAM will be right under the heatsink cutout and behind the front fan. But the front fan still face a problem with ATX 24pin power cable right under the fan, unless you can bend the 24pin cable as much as you can to be lower than RAM height then it won't be a problem.

Anyway, what is your RAM and height?

That's OK, most of ITX motherboard RAM location is right under the heatsink cutout behind the front fan of D15.

I'm not sure i would call my motherboard's ram location typical. Because its itx and the apx power connector is to the right of the ram, there is very little space between the cpu and the ram slots. Like right now I have to rotate my Krakken x52 upside down to get it to fit. In order to also fit the radiator and fan of my evga hybrid cooler, i had to mount the fan on the outside of the case. I have the Asrock z390 phantom gaming itx/ac

Look at the center point of the D15 base plate to the cutout, it's 95:2=47.5 mm so if the distance of your RAM to center point of the CPU is 49-66 mm, then it's no problem.

Also you better use a 90° elbow SATA cable instead of that straight which will conflict with the D15 fan.

Regarding your concern about compatibility of NH-D15 on ITX motherboard and RAM. I want to convince you, here is mine, no conflict with any components around the D15, the motherboard is MSI Z370i Gaming Pro Carbon AC ITX.
