I would go for Ryzen 7 2700/2700X if you need to play the games at said quality and resolution now, but otherwise if it's not a major concern then I would wait until Zen 2, which is the successor to Zen (what current Ryzen offerings are based on atm). Nobody has benchmark figures for Zen 2 yet so it's much too early to tell if Zen 2 is really a viable option at this point.

I have heard that AMD have a really big release coming with their future 7nm CPUs. Honestly i think if my 4790k can drag me over the line until then i'll go for it because so far i haven't really been wowed by the current offerings of CPUs. I've never gotten a red team CPU before, but i have to say my interest is piqued for 2019 because Intel has just not been impressing me despite them being the company ive trusted for CPUs for a decade
