gtx 1080 ti msi duke oc a good card?

Hey there

 

So ive come across a guy selling a gtx 1080ti msi duke oc 11gb for $600aud (440 usd)

 

Is the duke a good card? I cant seem to find more than a handful of reviews on it. And if it is a good card - should i be worried the deal is too good?

 

Ive never bought a 2nd hand card before esp. Through gumtree and the seller isnt using paypal so im pretty nervous

Holy crap. 

That is a god-teir card. As good as it gets without bumping upto the new RTX series.

 

That being said, this is a $1400 USD card, for the love of GOD please pick that up at that price!!
 

If possible, go see it working before buying it. But even then, a dead 1080ti is worth more than $440 LOL

From what I've heard, it's a good card. That seems awfully cheap though. I wish they sold cards like that in the US lol, I can barely find 1080 Tis for less than $550 US. As long as you can test it before buying then it's fine.

No... see above. Even new the car shouldn't have been more than ~$750. You can buy an equivalent card used for well under $600 US.

If you can meet up with the seller and have some proof that the card does in fact work and is a 1080Ti Duke(keep in mind most cards with over 4GB of VRAM are hard to fake, much less a 1080Ti Duke), then you should be fine.

Current prices don't matter. The only reason they are that expensive is because it's no longer manufactured and Newegg thinks it's worth more because of that. Go back to before the Mining craze and it was probably what I said it was. Even after that.

 

@OttoVonBismarckLook buying used PC parts is just like buying a used car. Test drive it before you buy it. That's all. If it works, it works. If it has warranty left over, then even better.

That's not retail though that's some random 3rd party seller. 1080 Ti's aren't available at established retailers anymore in Canada. That's like me selling a new unboxed 1080 Ti on Amazon for $1,700 and then people saying that's retail.

Just ask to see it running in a computer before buying and you should be safe.

I cant meet with him, i asked for some photos but unfortunately the ones i got are pretty low res and its hard to verify. That's totally valid, if he can't verify anything for you then it's not worth your time or risking your money. It sounds sketchy to me.

Well tell him you'll buy it if he can prove in person that it functions properly. That's not unreasonable.

Yeah no, those are usual signs to me that I pass. I don't do bank wires, I require to see it run in person, and I don't like people that rush me. If he wants to sell it then he'll go by your terms. I'd pass.

It's not even Neweggs prices, it's some random 3rd party seller. Retail was never $1,700cad on these cards even during the crypto craze.
