TheVerge reports that Starbucks is tired of you watching porn on their Free Wi-Fi. lmfao 

 

Starbucks has been pressured into blocking all types of porn after other companies and consumers have pushed for Starbucks to stop people watching illegal content.

 

Whilst Starbucks claims they never allowed people to watch illegal content they will soon be perfectly happy blocking all types of porn regardless of if it's illegal.

 

Starbucks has said they will introduce this to their US locations in 2019.

 

This move follows what McDonald's have done in the US as well.

Starbucks said to The Verge, “While it rarely occurs, the use of Starbucks public Wi-Fi to view illegal or egregious content is not, nor has it ever been permitted...We have identified a solution to prevent this content from being viewed within our stores and we will begin introducing it to our US locations in 2019.” While there aren’t details on what the content filter is, Starbucks did say it had tested multiple methods.

At the end of the day it is their Free Wi-Fi so they can do what they want with it although personally I'd like for them to just stop offering free Wi-Fi cos people should not be using unsecured Wi-Fi in this day and age. I feel like using free Wi-Fi is the equivalent of walking down the street but everybody has X-Ray glasses (of sorts) so they can see right through your clothes.

When I was working at Taco Bell, I once caught a customer watching porn on their phone (although I didn't say or do anything about it...the customer never even realized).  I presume that they were connected to the restaurant's free Wi-Fi.  Thus, hearing this news about Starbucks is absurd, but not surprising to me.

 

And before any dirty minds run away with this, I didn't stand there and watch.  I had a job to do, dammit, and I wanted the cash for the laptop I have now!
