PSU: Capstone 550M vs EVGA BQ 850W

Getting a new PSU 40$ MAX for my 2nd PC (i5-8400+rx 570)

found the Rosewill Capstone 550M on newegg for 40$, other options are:

EVGA 850 BQ on their website for 39.99 (cheaper than the other BQs, 850W might be useful in the future)

I want at least 500W(500 is fine) becuase upgradability, also at least a 5y warranty.

BTW are evga B stock psus worth? Ive seen G2s for 40$ there before.

If it's either one of them, I'd actually take the 550M, because if there's one thing you really don't want to cheap out on in a build, is the power supply, and the 80+ gold certification, will both mean it will generate more stable power, and would less likely to have any faulties.

The rating doesnt mean anything.

The rosewill is better here, as you don't need more than 450 watts for that system, maybe a cx450m would be something for you?

Yeah, but as my 2nd rig is my fun rig, and i might do a dual xeon or crossfire thr rx 570 (along with new case etc)

 

By the way the cx450m is 49.99 without rebate and i do not include rebates.

Oh, then the deal went down. As you noticed, evga is having their sales, maybe something like the g2 will go on sale, otherwise you're fine with both listed, although they are tier 2 and 3

If nothing has changed, the Capstone is the better as its based on the Super Flower Golden Green plattform. But that's also rather old as well, so its probable that the unit sold now might be completely different.

no, not really.

The 850W BQ is OK, but far from good Gold ones...
