Unpopular opinion: Death Note is not good anime.
I am not big anime fan, but I could not even force myself to finish watching it. I even forced myself to watch complete crap of TV shows, but after 8 episodes of Death Note I could not go any further than 8 episodes. It is always in "must watch" animes lists, but IMHO it doesn't deserve to be there.

I have hundreds of those literally, but generally don't like them. That's why I want ones like from the photo. Also some cables have a slightly different inner diameter and some ferrules just fall out, or some are way too tchick and can break connector.

Lots of people are saying that he is too good for them. That's the whole thing I tried to explain with my IT example. As soon as you go to management in IT your engineering skills will not be as great. I am just seeing his situation as a promotion. Yes, it won't make him better player in terms of skills, however his current position is well rewarded and he worked damn hard if you ask me to deserve it.

Niksa got a reaction from leadeater in We Got 100 Gigabit Networking!... HOLY $H!T
I am mostly working with Mellanox (just waiting when it will become just Nvidia) and sometimes with Cisco equipment and when it comes to DAC cables things can get quite complicated. When I have eg. Mellanox ConnectX NIC + Mellanox DAC + Mellanox switch no issues there. TBH I only used 10G and 25G DAC cables. However, we are working on development of FPGA based devices which use 10G or 25G connection to the network and in that case DACs can be a huge pain. In some cases link won't be established at all, in some cases link is established and there is a huge packet loss and if you look at the eye pattern of the signal it is all over the place.
That is why I have my box filled with Mellanox compatible SFPs by FS and those work like charm in any device.

Also, one cool thing that Mellanox has is splitting of the QSFP into 4 separate 25G ports. It can be quite useful when you want to connect 10G or 25G device on eg. SN2100.

I should get Arista equipment next week for validation. Never used their equipment before so I am quite curious about it.

The thing that I don’t understand is how come the lots of US people are so brainwashed into thinking that the current system is good? Usual argument is “choice”. What choice? To survive and go into poverty or to survive and become a homeless. North Korean propaganda is nothing compared to the US one. At least in North Korea people are not aware about the rest of the world so they (unfortunately) have an “excuse” not to know any better.

Niksa got a reaction from Ben17 in Trying to get rid of mechanical keyboard sounds from my mic
What you have there is large diaphragm condenser microphone.  And I will have to repeat myself for millionth time:
    - those types of microphones WILL pickup clicks from mechanical keyboard. O rings will help a little to none. There is no way to completely isolate keyboard noise, you can just make it a slightly less annoying. They are just way too sensitive.
    - get a noise gate (software one is ok). Think of it as a automatic mute button which will engage if the sound input is below the certain level. It will help to eliminate any noises while you are being silent, but will NOT eliminate surrounding noises while speaking.

Niksa got a reaction from vortextech77 in What do you think about the term 'Influencer'?
IMHO there are two types of influencers:
    1) Guys like Linus who are actually putting effort into their content and by doing that influencing people on certain products/services. Those kind of preople are actually useful in society.
    2) Useless Instagram and similar social network "celebrities" parasites which demand free stuff just because they have lots of followers and all that they are doing is putting photos on social media and behaving like "look at me peasants, I am enjoying".

Niksa got a reaction from sub68 in How Do You Build a Digital Audio Workstation
Regarding VSTs, here is something that was not discussed.
VSTs don't need any special kind of storage, however VSTi will benefit from SSDs.
VST is is usually something that will alter sound and doesn't use lots of disk I/O operations except to load itself into computer memory, VSTi is virtual instrument and in some cases (eg. virtual orchestra) samples are huuge. In that case you need fast storage to read that amount of data.

If you find your mic too silent, cheap option is CT1 from Klark Teknik. It is essentially Cloudlifter for fraction of the price.

K&M are great but pricey. Personally I bought K&M stand because while I was working with PA equipment long time ago K&M stands were only ones without issue and could handle misuse with ease. Maybe there are cheaper versions with comparable quality on Amazon etc. but I just bought something that I know it will work. Also price in my current country was 80ish USD, while in the US same thing is 150 USD.

You have some nice friends with good taste when it comes to microphones:)

Niksa got a reaction from y0ur5h4d0w in guitar/bass solo head made with linux and raspberry pi (?) is it only a weird dream?
For audio setup on linux read this:

    https://wiki.linuxaudio.org/wiki/raspberrypi

next, you will need some guitar amp VST which can work on Linux as well as Linux VST host. Personally I never used anything like that on Linux so Google is your friend.

For the input you need something with a high impedance. There are several schematics circulating on the internet. Maybe you can try JFET input stage of 1w amp project. Did not try it personally but it seems that it would fit the purpose.

For footswitch one or more GPIO pins of Raspberry Pi can be used do detect switch press. Also, some of those pins are I2C and SPI busses which can be used for display output. I am afraid that there is no out of the box solution that would fit those requirements and you would probably have to write your own software to do that.

And lastly for the output you can connect audio out of Raspberry to something like this

Niksa got a reaction from sub68 in Newbie no soldering experience.
The only tricky part is soldering ground of the pickup to the potentiometer casing. For that a bit more powerful iron (at least 30ish W) is recommended because of the bigger thermal mass. The rest should be easy. Also invest into one of those helper arms (dirt cheap) to hold your wires in place. You will thank me later.
Lastly, don’t bother with lead free solder. It is more difficult to work with and you don’t require lead free certification for DIY stuff.

For Raspberry Pi basically any 5V@2A DC regulated power supply should work. Schematics are available on the official site so you can check there for the reference how and where to solder the leads.

Niksa got a reaction from Bombastinator in Is Burn in real?
The whole burn in term comes from the vacuum tube technology era. Tubes will change its characteristics over burn in time so their sound will change as well. Burn in terminology is used because when high operating voltage is applied to the tube it will release heat, after all they have heaters inside, and it would literally burn leftover impurities and stabilize atomic structure of the filament grid inside.

Long story short, 99% of modern audio equipment doesn’t require it. Moving of the drivers in headphones (read: playing music with them) will soften them a bit, but it will not change the sound in any easily noticeable way.

A bit off topic, but for all guitar players here, guitar speakers require some playing through them (also referred as burn in) before they “settle in”. After all those are the speakers designed to work under conditions (constant clipping) which would burn the standard speakers.
