Well Europe's already done a pretty good job of ignoring dumb ass people who don't belong in politics and pushed on with nuclear research. To put it plainly the U.S. got screwed with Jane Fonda with three mile island thing and Japan got screwed by Fukushima accident. Europe just didn't care. Now they've got advanced 3rd generation reactors.
DigitalHermit reacted to LAwLz in What do people hate about Apple?
Here is why I dislike Apple.
Steve Jobs was one of the worst human beings I can think of (except real criminals) and I have explained why in this post. It makes me sick when people idolize him.
The fans never shuts the hell up about how everyone is copying Apple (and then completely disregards any instance of Apple copying others).
The fans always defends Apple product's lack of features, saying that adding those features are bad or not needed. Then when Apple finally adds that feature they say it's the best thing ever. It happened when Apple moved from PowerPC to x86 (first Apple fans said x86 was worse and then they did a 180 and said PowerPC was bad after Apple announced they would make the switch). It happened with multitasking on iOS. When Android had it but iOS didn't they said it was a useless feature and just used up your RAM. Now they say it's good. It happened when Steam was announced for OS X. Before they said OS X didn't need games because people with Macs got work done, like video editing and graphics design. When Steam was announced they went "woho games! Take that Windows fanboys! We got games now!". It happened when Bootcamp was announced. First they said they didn't need Windows because OS X did everything they needed, and now they go "Woho I can use my Windows programs in Bootcamp now!" It happened with the iPhone screen size as well. People saying that 3.5" was the absolute best size and anything bigger was too big because they couldn't reach stuff anymore. Then the 4" iPhone was announced and everyone went "yes a bigger screen! Finally!".
You might think "oh but those are different people saying the before and after stuff". No... I have seen plenty of people say that feature X is bad, and then a few months later when Apple announces it, it's a great feature.
Another thing I dislike about Apple is their lawsuits... Not just against Samsung for stuff like "slide to unlock" and "black rectangle with a grid of colorful icons" but they are also suing things like a café in Germany because their logo is an apple.

I do support for about 100 of the little buggers and about 250 pc's at work. The main thing I see with people who hate on macs is a lack of understanding or the fear of difference, it must be bad because its not what I am used to.
Now Macs are pretty stable and basically run what ever you throw at them, they are well built and we have some old cheese grater mac pros that are still chugging along granted a bit slower than the new ones. Maviricks can go suck knob through a straw, it might be free but caused a lot of stability issues (upgrade with caution).
We use the macs for the editorial and design staff which is using them where they excel in the creative sector for the rest of the business is all pc's because of cost and compatibility with the software that we use except for some of the app developers for whom the tools that the BSD based system can provide are a far stride above windows.
Now to my hates...
They are a bitch to automate, yes you can get 3rd party business applications to get things done but its a pain there is nothing like a group policy on a windows domain. It is very locked down so sometimes finding the source of issues can be... fun. Mac users and fanboys/girls... Shut the fuck up! My pc does all the same shit as your uber shiny bling bling mac ultra pro stab you with a spoon book... The reason it does this is because I know what I am doing and how to make it do what I want it to. No an iPhone is not better than my android (I own both and should therefore know) Your iMac can break, let me demonstrate with my cricket bat! Ok got a bit off track there so self repair! ever had a failed HDD? now have a failed HDD in an iMac... Hint you have to go in from the front. good luck! OSX yes it is BSD based (long ago), yes it is strides above windows in terms of being sane and secure, but to me it looks like something vomited glitter over the screen and smudged it in, half of the things that should be instinctive aren't (I have had t show people who have used these things for years how to get an app out of full screen) The app names make no sense what so ever people who make mac programs have eaten too many of the magic mushrooms. The damn mouse why the hell would I want to ctrl+click to get a damn dropdown menu on a two button mouse with one button disabled? many of my users request pc mice on their macs for this purpose.
Now my Likes...
Its locked down, Simple admin... one admin user all other users standard anyone wants anything installed they put in a damn ticket... its heaven. The screens due to the creative intended usage are all very good. Easy to move imacs, seriously Power and network that's all you need to unplug if you just pick up all the shit and go. SSHing into peoples macs and screwing with them can be fun Finally the build quality, I work with a lot of kit and out of all of it macbooks are the best built in my book... I have plans to once I stop buying other useless crap get one and put Linux on it for general usage. Well I might have missed a bit but safe to say I don't hate macs its more that I see that there is a tool for every job, a screwdriver will not work well on a nail while a spanner will be absolute shit at tightening a screw and you try to hammer in that bolt!
DigitalHermit reacted to Sousuke in What do people hate about Apple?
I agree with all of the "Fanboy" Comments,
My motto is get what the hell you want, You want a Dell get one, you want a Mac get one ect.
Don't follow the crowd and the brand, I am more likely to buy apple products just because how many years I get out of all the apple products I've purchased, I ran a PowerMac G4 for 9 YEARS without failure (Well a hard drive died but what do you expect) and my Mac Pro has been running for 6 years with similar results.
Infact I have a Macintosh Plus from 1987 on my desk
DigitalHermit reacted to Misanthrope in What do people hate about Apple?
Yes they are overpriced. The rock solid stability has nothing to do with what you're mainly paying for which is the hardware: Equal hardware running on Linux is even more stable and a pretty similar experience if you could use the apps apple intentionally hijacks behind their ecosystem. If you must have OSX then use a hackintosh.
There's little software that's exclusive to OSX and cannot be run (either the same or an equivalent competitor) on Windows and sometimes even Linux. The "function" part is meaningless, people get macs because of the stupid fashion don't kid yourself.
AIO desktops are stupid, there's enough PC form factors to avoid such stupidity, even tiny m-ITX cases can fit 100x better cooling solutions and in some cases avoid stupid hardware restrictions like mobile based GPUs. The existence of cases like the Silverstone Raven make the AIO form factor useless.
All of which are available on standard workstation form factors. If I had designer employees who requested a Mac pro and somehow resisted the urge to immediately fire them on the spot, I would reply "I'm not going to sacrifice upgradeability, expandability and customizeability just so you can have a stupid trash can PC, fuck off back to work"
DigitalHermit reacted to Altecice in What do people hate about Apple?
They run a butchered Linux Kernal.
They are locked down tight.
All the fan boys insist "ohh I don't need an antivirus its a MAC" ... WRONG.
They ARE overpriced for what they are.
*fishing line out*
ps - I don't hate Apple its just my reasons I Dislike them.

How to end a never-ending argument
inspired by this post and the facebook status
Being a gamer, I understand how specs are really important when it comes to the performance of those specific types of applications.
But why are people so bothered about specs in Apple computers? Why do people feel the need to comment on everything about how
shit Apple are?
I really want to know what people hate about Apple, but hold up and hear me out. Like I said before, I'm a gamer too. I have a reasonably powerful gaming machine that cost the same as my MacBook Pro which I use for- my work.
I'm a computer science student with a Mac. People look at me like I'm alien when I use it in lessons, and people are always complaining about the cost of Macs when I'm using mine in the universities Mac laboratories. People always say, "oh it's stupid how this works", "why can't I right click this is so retarded", "scrolling is backwards how stupid is that" but I don't hear complaints when people use Windows. In fact, people just rage in silence every time Windows crashes and applications freeze, and don't want to tell everyone about it. Why is that?
Please tell me. I really couldn't do my work as efficient without a Mac. Yeah there's something psychological about the price that motivates me to do a little more with my expensive hardware, but I just couldn't work without the precise trackpad and mouse tracking, poweruser-friendly keyboard shortcuts for everything and the ability to still use the rest of my computer when one application crashes.
Before you post, let me counter a few arguments you may have:
Apple are overpriced!:
Are they? While you might see specs being the thing that costs the most in a system, I see rock solid stability, ease of use and exceptional design of the operating system itself justifying the cost.
People only use them to use Facebook!:
Not true in the slightest. I've never seen one of these coffee-shop hipsters in my life. I don't have an instagram account and my Mac friends that do certainly don't waste their precious battery life on instagram. Everyone I know that has a Mac has them for a reason. From programmers and freelancers, all the way to student clothing designers. My old school got them and the students have been doing really well in terms of art and music since, and I see their work all the time. And when we're not in work, we catch up on our social life like everyone else.
Mobile hardware in a desktop? Pah!:
Mobile hardware isn't bad hardware. It means it's incredibly power efficient. People don't understand that the reason Apple use mobile chips is because the general audience for a given price point don't need super-powerful hardware.
This reminds me of greasy and obnoxious sales people. You should buy this product, because it's faster. If only people asked themselves... will they ever use the full power of the machine?
Couple this with apples excellent design philosophy, and you get a piece of beautiful hardware, that has enough horsepower as one would need to ensure the machine meets thermal requirements and stays reliable in the process. Bingo. I want one.
The Mac Pro is stupid!:
This has been busted by Linus himself. I will pay you $10 IF you can find a system that is built with workstation grade hardware designed to last a loooong time, features dual workstation GPUs, ECC Memory which MASSIVELY improves reliability, expandable as much and as fast as thunderbolt, and all fits inside a case that stays quiet, cool, and less than the volume of your (considerably smaller than usual) trashcan. and overall, is cheaper than the Mac Pro.
Open discussion, lets go!

No... Just... No...
Edit (for OP):
You can go ahead and try something from Gundam, Code Geass, Tokyo Ghoul (only been through ep1 but I'll marathon it when it's done), Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei (This is good but the novels are written like textbooks), Fate/Stay Night, Fate/Zero, Library Wars (nice concept), C: The Money of Soul and Possibility Control (money = power... basically they duel using money), Higurashi (killer Lolis), Arpeggio of Blue Steel (Loli ships), Girls und Panzer (Lolis with tanks), Upotte! (Loli guns), Infinite Stratos (does this count as action?), Accel World (from the same author as Sword Art Online (caution: if you're too senstive to NTR, this one may not be for you) Guilty Crown, Mirai Nikki (yandere), Freezing (tits) and the To Aru series (4 seasons and 2 movies)...

Made of wood.
Made it myself.
Bigger than a 900D.
Hyper 212 fan in pull.
Top mounted PSU, which is unusual these days.
Very quiet once I swap out the PSU fan.
For now I can absolutely guarantee only one of these exists.

Yeah possible. Calling LED Fan lovers. Don't get me wrong lightmods are awesome when well done but overdoing it -> rice. Sleeved cables, ok. I've seen so many messed up colorchoises like red case and green cable. So rubbish and ugly.

Log Horizon isn't really the same type of show as SAO. The only thing they really share is a similar setting.
imo Log Horizon is waaay better then SAO (at least s1 .. I haven't started s2 of SAO yet).
I watched Log Horizon almost right after SAO.
The only show I have seen that really reminds me of Log Horzon is Code Geass.
Code Geass is not a 10/10 show imo but it might be worth watching for you.. I would say it is either a 7.5 or 8 show. (both seasons.. apparently the movies are bad so I didn't watch them)
Well there is one other thing that reminds me of Log Horizon but it isn't an anime... It is a VN.. Muv Luv Extra/Unlimited/Alt had some of the similar feelings I got from Log Horizon.
