  1. Board is an MSI Z490 MPG Gaming Edge Wifi. CPU_PWR1 is an 8 pin, CPU_PWR2 is a 4-pin. PSU is a Seasonic Syncro Connect DPC-850, and I see 4x 4 pin CPU cables, Who goes where, and does it matter?
  2. Finally got that done. As a whole, the Q704 is a handsome ATX case, and roomy. That said, Seasonic needs to keep the Hulk away from these things. Everything was tightened to the point of seizing, even the thumb screws were unmovable without a big screwdriver.
  3. Seasonic's Syncro PSU sure looks like a clean part on the surface, but I'm finding installing it to be far more effort than its prob worth. My issue is the five screws go into the back, but there's nothing really to line them up while you're trying to get them started. I know for the young this is a simple matter of two-handed operation, hold and screw, but for older men this is taking almost miraculous dexterity to do solo.
  4. My intention to build this weekend didn't pan out because UPS did that annoying thing where they claimed an item was delivered that never showed up. Best case it comes in a few days, worst case I'll have Amazon send it again. The product in question was Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut. Obviously the Kryonaut is high end, but I did notice that my cooler came with Scythe-brand paste. I haven't been able to find any good reviews on that, and I'm sure its a downgrade, but is it that bad?
  5. gamivo appears to have the 11 keys at reasonable prices. I've usually had good luck with them on other keys
  6. I'm going to be building a PC this weekend, and its got no OS. I'm thinking I'd like to put 11 on it from the start. Obviously then the issue is getting an OEM key. Those are cheap and easy to come by for 10. 11 just came out, so I don't know there. Moreover, whence do these keys come in the first place? I know when an OS has been out for years people just have stacks of activation keys. Am I correct in thinking that's probably not the case yet for 11 and that they might be a bit more dear to obtain?
  7. finished orders and just waiting for deliveries, ultimately the system includes: CPU - Intel Core i9-10900kf Mobo- MSI MPG Z490 GAMING EDGE WIFI\ RAM - 32 GB (4x8) Patriot Viper 3733 Mhz, Samsung B-Die GPU - Asus GeForce 1650 Super Phoenix M.2 - SK Hynix Gold P31 2 TB Case- Seasonic Q704 PSU- Seasonic DPC-850 Platinum 80+ Cooler: Scythe Fuma 2 Thermal Paste: Grizzly Kryonaut
  8. Coleco Telstar Atari 2600 (wood panelled) Atari 2600 (the under $50 model) NES Sega Genesis Sega CD Sega Saturn Atari Jaguar N64 Sega Dreamcast Gamecube PS2 Wii Xbox 360 Xbox One Google Stadia --- Handhelds: Sega Nomad GBA DS DSXL PSP PS Vita
  9. ooh, I like the looks of that, thx
  10. While I'm shopping around for the best deal on RAM (Samsung B-die or bust), I'm trying to learn more on the air coolers I can choose from. Lots of stuff still on the board there, as there are a lot of nice, sexy blocks of aluminium to be had. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the DeepCool A500 Plus? Looks nice for the lower end of the price range I'm looking at.
  11. The majority of my parts have been ordered, and I'm looking for input on finishing this up. It's by far the most expensive build I've ever done, so I want it to go more or less smoothly. Here's what I've got: CPU - Intel Core i9-10900kf Mobo- MSI MPG Z490 GAMING EDGE WIFI GPU - Asus GeForce 1650 Super Phoenix M.2 - SK Hynix Gold P31 2 TB Case- Seasonic Q704 PSU- Seasonic DPC-850 Platinum 80+ --- So I still need my RAM and my air cooler.
  12. According to the NewEgg page: https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16813119370 M.2_1 slot (Key M), type 2242/2260/2280/22110 - Only Intel 11th processors support PCIe 4.0 x4 mode, this slot will be disabled for other CPUs I understand 4.0 is an 11th gen thing, but does that sound right? The slot will be disabled? I'd assume they just dial it down to 3.0 on a 10th gen, instead of making the slot non-functional. Could be a deal-breaker, because I need a place to put my SK Hynix Gold P31 2TB
  13. I've liked G.Skill in the past, but aren't they on the tall side. I don't want clearance problems if I go with D15
  14. MPG Z490 GAMING EDGE WIFI seems like it'd be a fine fit. For another $50 I could get ASUS TUF Gaming Z590-Plus WiFi 6, but I'm not sure it's worth the extra. Tips on the appropriate RAM to pair with it would be welcome too.
  15. I always thought the Scythe Fuma 2 was a damned sexy lady, but realistically the D15 is probably the standard for a reason. In the past I always bought the "almost ideal" part so I'd have something to aspire to, but in the context of a mid-life crisis premium build, it probably makes sense not to compromise on that sort of thing.
