  1. My rig utilizes an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 cpu. I've been reading that the upcoming 6700xt should be the comparable for the 3060ti. I also read that combining an AMD processor with an AMD gpu can have performance advantages over an NVIDIA gpu. Now, availability aside (because either of these are going to be hard to get for months) which should I go for?
  2. This is exactly what I was hoping someone would share here. Super informative video, thanks! I had suspected that ps5 graphical settings are less than high, never expected it to be as low as he was showing though.
  3. I'm struggling to understand how consoles such as the PS5 and Xbox SX can kick out some games at 4k/60fps, while I read articles about how a 3060ti can't hit that in most modern games. How is it that a PC that can cost 2 to 4 times as much as a console can't blow them out of the water? What am I missing?
  4. A buddy of mine who has multiple "enthusiast" level rigs has dogged on my mobo constantly. After arguing with him endlessly, I want to see if I am completely missing something and if I really do have a bad board for the money ($110). I personally am not displeased, but I just want to make sure I'm not insane and he is just a bit snobby when it comes to PCs.
  5. Why not try the ASRock B550 Phantom Gaming 4? Comes with the newest chipset, just missing out on some USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports. Similar price point as well
  6. I own a ASRock B550 Phantom Gaming 4 motherboard. I know it is a budget board. However with my setup (AMD Ryzen 5 3600/Nvidia 3060ti/G.Skill Ripjaws V 3600 CL16) what am I missing out on? I know I don't have any USB 3.2 gen 2 A or C ports (which I don't have a use for at the moment anyways), I don't need wifi or RGB, I don't plan on OC'ing to the absolute maximum, and the network port is limited to 1gb (even though I don't know anyone with over 1gbps in their home, I have 1GB fiber myself). So what am I missing out on?
  7. Well SSD would be my initial thought as well. However I keep seeing people say that SSDs have shorter lifespans than HDD due to disk writing limits. Just looking to see how true that is. And honestly when it comes to a company, a 10tb SSD is pennies when it comes to the grand picture. Plus higher read and write speeds seem like a no brainer. However I am unsure of the difference since it is a server and has to be transferred via physical cables. My area of knowledge is strictly gaming/home PC, not server. Also, my IT guy just told me our network speed is 1gb (not surprising conside
  8. I am not an administrator, and I can't monitor or see what is taking up the most space. I am just looking for what people think works best/is most practical when it comes to server storage solutions.
  9. Unsure of network speeds honestly, we employ ~350 people. Big thing is, one drive is located in our office, the other drive is located in our corporate office over 150 miles away so things run slowly if we use their drive. Both drives are sitting at half full at the moment but over time they will get filled up. I think what takes up the most space in our case are the thousands of photos that get stored without file size reduction.
  10. this is for centralized storage aka a server. Also, right now we only have two separate drives with 2TB a piece which seems measly.
  11. What type of drive is typically suggested for companies that don't store/edit videos. The heaviest lifting our company does is light CAD work. Most of our storage space is taken up by photos and cad drawings, copious MS Word reports and other windows office suite program files.
  12. OK, so now it looks much worse... Unless the memory only runs at the highest frequency needed at the time? At the moment I'm only using the pc to remote into my work desktop, but once I start up a game, should the speeds increase? By the way, just noticed I didn't post my processes, which is a Ryzen 5 3600.
  13. I don't know what i did... But after my 3rd reboot, task manager is seeing the 3600...Not sure if that's real or not...
  14. Hey guys, I'm new to BIOS and trying to figure out how to get my memory speeds matching. I have an ASRock B550 Phantom gaming 4 with 2x8 G.Skill Ripjaws V 3600 CL16 RAM. The system keeps running at 2133 regardless of what I do. -Sticks are in the A2/B2 slots which the manual says should handle 3200 dual rank. -I have the XMP 2.0 profile 1 set to DDR4-3600 16-19-19-39 1.35V. Not sure what I need to do to get this going at least up to 3200. Send help!!
  15. Hey guys, I just finished a my first build using a ryzen 5 3600 with a 3060 ti. Completely new to overclocking and was wondering if I should get a higher quality cpu cooler over the supplied stealth wraith if I want to OC. And if you belive I should, what are your suggestions?
  16. Looking for good suggestions on 2x8gb RAM for my build using an AMD Ryzen 5 3600. Read an article talking about 3733mHz but want to know if 3600 CL16 or 17 would be unnoticeably different. RGB isn't required, but a plus. Looking to spend $120 at very most, $100 would be the sweet spot if attainable.
  17. I have buddies that run their nvme as a boot drive and will have one or two of their most played games on there as well. If I go 500gb mid tier what would you suggest for both gen 4 vs gen 3?
  18. Is there much of a difference when it comes to Gen 3 vs Gen 4? Board supports up to Gen 4 but I would assume the price point is higher
  19. If I'm essentially using this ssd as a boot, I would assume 250gb would be much more than sufficient. So even a 980 pro is only $90 at that size. But will I really see a difference if I get a budget one if I'm just using it for boot up?
  20. I have a ASRock B550 Phantom gaming 4 board that has a hyper m.2 PCIe gen 4 x4 slot. What ssd would be best for this slot? Just looking for 500gb max to house OS and other resources for fast call up. Not liking to break the bank either.
  21. I want to know what the best GPU is if I'm running a build centered on a ryzen 5 3600. Also running 2x8gb 3600mHz CL16 memory. I don't want to go overboard on a gpu if my cpu is going to throttle it. Planning on running 1080p, 1440p if possible to get 60+fps on modern fps style games.
  22. Awesome, thank you for the quick reply
  23. SoI don't know much about coolers at all so looking to see if anyone here can enlighten me. So, I just bought an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 which comes with their wraith stealth cooler. I have a HP Z440 cooler (picture attached) . The HP cooler seems quite a bit bulkier and could probably disappate a lot more heat. Just want to know if anyone knows if the coolers have the same screw measurements. The motherboard I'm using is the ASRock B550 Phantom Gaming 4 ATX AM4 . The HP cooler isn't listed in most compatibility tools so I can't tell.
  24. The motherboard I have now is running an Intel Xeon E5-1607v3. It's an old CAD workstation from work that I was gifted. Don't think I need to upgrade the board if I can just upgrade the gpu and cpu. GPU is NVIDIA Quadro K620 which I still Def be upgrading soon as well
