I grew up in West Michigan and still live there. I have been interested in Computers for a while and wanted to become part of this huge community. I started a tech channel a while ago also (prior to me even knowing LTT existed), called Brandon Tech Tips. Again, I never knew what Linus Tech Tips was, so the copy-cat looking name was just a coincidence. My channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVWqqj5BMOFQagtRDm0yVJg

  1. Ryzen 3600, Asus ROG Strix B550-F, and G.SKILL Trident Z memory.
  2. I just did basic labor work (raking, moving stuff, etc). I got my list of parts and kept doing jobs until I had enough money. It took me about 5 months and then I had a new case, power supply, motherboard, ram, CPU, and my brother helped my out with the graphics side. The list of parts I have are listed below.
  3. I am pretty sure you would have to have HDMI 2.1 to do 1440p@120.
  4. I feel like magsafe would be neat, but the amount of hype I think too is a bit much. It is just a wireless charger that has a magnet on it. Even If i had something like magsafe, I would probably use it once and never touch it again. In conclusion, I agree, the hype is silly. It's not that crazy of a change other than they added a magnet.
  5. This community is really cool. I joined it a few weeks ago and have been on the forum everyday since. It's a great way to learn from others advice, mistakes, ect. The knowledge that people have on this forum is crazy. You can post about anything and get advice from some really knowledgeable people. Congrats on the new job!
  6. Over the pandemic, i've been doing work for money but didn't get very many jobs. The few jobs I got at least were enough to upgrade my computer. I picked the Ryzen 3600 paired with an ASUS ROG Strix B550-F (in case I want to switch to zen 3) and G.SKILL Trident Z memory. What are your thoughts on future graphics cards? I need an affordable one that can do 1080p@60 easily. I don't need ray tracing or anything. I currently have a MSI Nvidia Geforce GT 1030 in my system. The new components aren't here yet, so the 1030 might actually do okay for now.
  7. If you have any old windows 7 or 8 keys from old laptops or pc's, you might be able to take the keys from those and use the "Windows 10 installation media" thing to update it to windows 10.
  8. Yes. I have well over 400GB of free storage. I only need 8Gb to even install it. But I am planning to put about 50GB of space for it.
  9. I have a huge issue. I am trying to install cloudready OS on my old laptop, but I want to install it to an empty partition so I dont wipe anything, including my old OS (Windows 10). I recently learned that dual boot is not supported. You guys have any advice of a work around or another easy-to-run OS that would work well?
  10. This release just keeps getting worse. Nvidia was not prepared for a release they knew would be hot. Even worse, they had huge issues with their own site and caused all of the cards to go to greedy scalpers. I actually love nvidia's products, but goodness, this is one huge cluster f**** for them
