  1. I guess the challenge is it seems that with the new 3080 card if you have an older monitor without HDMI 2.1 you'll want to use DP1.4 with DSC if you plan to even touch 4k above 60hz. So what I'm reading is this and come to the conclusion: Need a new Monitor with HDMI 2.1 (coming out this year Eve/Asus) which can do 4k @120hz uncompressed and do 4k@144hz with DSC. The stars need to align and the Game itself must support DLSS2.0, HDR, Ray Tracing, etc. to even hit the 4k@144hz Am I right in saying that?

DP1.4a at 4k is only going to hit 120hz with DSC. https://www.tomshardware.com/features/displayport-vs-hdmi-better-for-gaming Are people on the internet actually doing 144hz 4k or is the monitor is configured to do 144hz but it’s not actually receiving enough data due to the limitations in HDMI1.x and DP1.x limitations? It feels like the monitors are capable, but the ports limit achieving this. I’m planning to replace my monitor(s) with 4k@144hz gaming is the goa
