Yes you're right -- read the labels. The right-most 8-pin slot is for your motherboard, and the one next to it is for PCIe devices. The long row of connections on the left are for peripherals (incl. PCIe) and SATA.

Ryzen 5 3600X or i7 10600K (upgrade)

Get the i5 if you're going to overclock and power draw isn't an issue, otherwise get the R5. -
I can't install Windows 10 to my newly built PC
alabistyr replied to JxWilko's topic in Troubleshooting
Shouldn't take that long at all. My advice would be to remake the bootable USB and start again. Make sure everything's plugged into the right places, yada yada. -

Have you tried waiting for everything to finish loading, despite the graphical glitches? -
What does the (af) mean in the AMD Ryzen 5 1600af
alabistyr replied to carmadman's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Awkward Flatulence In all seriousness, it's part of the product's box numbering. The AF models are newer and based on the 12nm process instead of the 14nm one, hence the 1600AF is very similar to a 2600 in performance, and also hence the high demand for it. -
The motherboard doesn't detect all 4 sticks of memory

Contact Gigabyte's customer support and get a new board. -
I was being sarcastic, since philosophy is the philo (love) of sophia (wisdom), whereas to consider God is theology -- theo (God) logia (discussion pertaining to) (also, hence the concept of logos in Christianity). Philosophy and theology are not the same thing: they are different sciences concerned with different fields. The last line was also sarcastic. My apologies. You're Turkish, right? Go read Ibn Rushd's Decisive Treatise if you haven't already.

Can Linux users be part of PC master race?
alabistyr replied to Member of PC master race's topic in General Discussion
Firstly, the PCMR is a meme and who is and isn't part of it does not matter. Secondly, PC stands for Personal Computer: nothing to do with operating systems. Thirdly, Linux gaming in 2020 is good enough for plenty of Linux gamers, myself included. Lutris works great, and Steam's Proton does too. ProtonDB will solve most of your issues with the latter if you have them. Lastly, and most importantly, the PCMR is a meme and who is and isn't part of it does not matter. -

The 5700XT is a 1440p card and it's barely a year old. Why do you need to upgrade? -

Why does it matter? -
Unless you understand Medieval Scholasticism and the Summa Theologiæ of Thomas Aquinas, and particularly its genesis in the works of Anselm, Augustine, Boethius and Plotinus, you have no ground to pontificate "philosophically" about the existence of God. Let the flamewar begin. Also... TECHNOLOGY!
