Yes you're right -- read the labels. The right-most 8-pin slot is for your motherboard, and the one next to it is for PCIe devices. The long row of connections on the left are for peripherals (incl. PCIe) and SATA.

Firstly, the PCMR is a meme and who is and isn't part of it does not matter. Secondly, PC stands for Personal Computer: nothing to do with operating systems. Thirdly, Linux gaming in 2020 is good enough for plenty of Linux gamers, myself included. Lutris works great, and Steam's Proton does too. ProtonDB will solve most of your issues with the latter if you have them. Lastly, and most importantly, the PCMR is a meme and who is and isn't part of it does not matter.
