  1. Hi everyone, Hoping for some community wisdom during the sales going on this weekend... The goal is to find a cost effective solution to add a second screen beside my main monitor, for productivity. I currently use a 27" 1400p main monitor and I would like to have a second, smaller, screen to use in portrait mode alongside it... Preferably around 24" and ideally one that comes by default with a stand that can switch into portrait mode. Any suggestions much appreciated, thanks
  2. I think I found it, Asus Ram Cache III. I think the set of software for my motherboard included it during install. Is this worth using? It seems it has by default allocated 2gb of my DRAM towards this ram cache.
  3. Edited: added question Thank you! Extremely valuable wisdom, exactly the reason I asked here! If I may ask you, what are your thoughts on this alternative? WD Black SN 750 2tb https://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=179_1927_1930&item_id=134013 Also I just looked into the SX8200.. Is it safe to assume the revised 8200 pro would still get 3k read speed and at least 1.6k write speeds? Please excuse my ignorance, in which use cases would I notice the lower write speed? I am wondering if it's primarily the 3k read speed t
  4. I never installed anything intentionally, knowingly. Could it be part of the motherboard software? I did not install any Western Digital software at any point. Thanks for this information I had no idea.
  5. Hi everyone, I have been looking around at 2tb drives and have settled on the SX8200 pro... https://www.amazon.ca/XPG-SX8200-Gen3x4-3000MB-ASX8200PNP-2TT-C/dp/B07TY2TN64/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8 As I am not in anyway an expert on this I am hoping the community could offer any reasons not to purchase this drive. Based on my understanding I think it's a good choice but I appreciate the wisdom that comes from this community. Thank you, anyone, that takes the time to read and respond with any opinions.
  6. Hi everyone, I just ran crystal disk mark to test out my 1tb WD SN550 drive. I don't understand the results I got and I am hoping someone can provide some insight, I was expecting significantly lower numbers and I don't understand what to make of this. All opinions much appreciated! MB: Asus b550 rog strix New Bitmap Image.bmp
  7. Hi everyone, I am looking to purchase a new 4k tv as a gift for my parents this holiday season and I am hoping to get some advice from this community. My parents will only watch tv/movies (no video games), and I am not sure yet if they will tolerate a smart tv in their house (they are still be freaked out by it...I am working on it). My budget is $600 CAD and I am hoping to benefit from a Black Friday sale if possible. I know nothing about tv's but I am hoping to get some feedback on what models I should be keeping an eye on (both smart and non smart models i
  8. Hi everyone, I currently use a PG279Q on an rtx 2080ti and I am looking to add a second monitor strictly for productivity purposes. I am looking for insights from the community regarding pros/cons and things to be aware of when doing various multi monitor setups as I have never done this before. I appreciate any help offered. I am currently looking at potentially using this https://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=22_1953_1957&item_id=170350 as the second monitor unless there are glaring issues with this idea. Will I run into issues using
  9. hopefully, that is what I am counting on with this b550f board I bought.. Otherwise I do wish I was able to get a 10700k.
  10. I tried to run usermark and this came back as the result for the ram. I double checked and the xmp settings are on for the ram, does this result seem right though? Not sure how to show the image but I attached it. ram bench.bmp
  11. Ok this made it very clear, thank you very much for this!
  12. Ok thanks for this. My understanding now is that I could populate both m2 slots with nvme and my gpu will be unaffected. My only loss is 2 SATA ports. Thanks, I feel confident to go buy the drive.
  13. Only in those specific cases? and the difference is with my board, it doesn't use the PCIe lanes and instead disables the SATA ports is this correct?
