Oh no! I fell victim to the lack of gpu WUs. I was folding when I went to bed, and it was idle when I checked it after waking up.  Not sure when it went idle, but it's a loss of at most 5 hrs which is about how long it takes for my gpu to crunch through a WU.  I just set the client-type and next-unit-percentages and restarted F@H, and I'm folding once again.

@GOTSpectrum thanks again spec for some good GPU advice.  I did apply the changes we talked about.  No failed units so far, however, I have been able to stay in normal queue with WU's, I havent tried beta or advanced queue yet (which is the only place it failed so far).  But whether its the improved settings or just good karma sent from you, it is folding non stop!

I'm back up to 600k points again today. I only picked back up 2 places, so I'm still down compared to my highest ranking.

If I can manage to stay in the top 35 of this event, I'll be happy. Currently chilling at 33, but today was not a great PPD day. @Macaw2000 is eating all of the good WUs.

Holy shit the typo that I didnt think was a typo was actually a typo!

I need a vacation. It did not help that when searching "1060ti" that I got listings for newegg amazon, and videos about a 1060ti (however clicking on them reveals they're all 1060's or 1660ti's)

Dropped 5 slots today.  Only folded half as many points as yesterday for whatever reason.

Not too shabby.  I jumped 16 spots from yesterday's posting.  If I maintain today's output, I think I'll settle squarely in the middle of the pack.

Good thing I came back to look at this thread again.  I didn't look at the time zone originally so I was going to start folding based on local time, instead of in sub-3 hours.

I know its a risky move with a full Noctua themed build but i have wanted it for so long just not been sure how to execute it.

The Parts are my old ones:

    Case: Fractal Design Meshify C
    Mobo: Asus Prime z370 -p
    CPU: Intel 8600k
    GPU: Gigabyte 1080 windforce
    PSU: Corsair RM650x
    Ram: Corsair 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3000Mhz CL15 Vengeance
    Cooler NH-D15
Accessories: Cooler Master Vertical GPU holder + Risercard

A rough idea in photoshop and some ideas later this is the sketch of how i wanted it at the end. (No im not that good with photoshop, i know)

First off to see how the colors match and a small mod to the power button.

Then its off to paint the rest off the parts and puck it back together.

And for a complete look with some noctua fans.

So I'll start with the video card, because... well, you will see!

I got the Zotac RTX2060 "Gaming" 6gb because it was what I could afford. This card was $500 CDN and the cheapest RTX 2070 was $1000 + CDN, so... yeah.

However.... sometimes you end up getting a case of the stupids. Par exemple:

(sigh) Yes, that is the heating element from my stove melted into the fan and shroud of my 3 day old GPU!

I was draining my loop and put my card on the stove next to the sink. Unfortunately, I forgot that I had turned off the stove 5 mins earlier. Stupid, stupid, stupid! "Fortunately", I had put it face down, if I had put the circuit board side down, I would have ended up with a nice expensive paper weight! So, the real reason that I'm adding a water block is that at times I lack the common sense of a squirrel!

Since there aren't any blocks that are made for my card, I had to find one with the same PCB layout. I emailed every waterblock manufacture that I could and only Bitspower and Bykski had a block that matched my PCB. It turn out that the Zotac Gaming GTX1660 Twin Fan has the same PCB layout as my RTX2060. I decided to go with the Bykski N-ST1660TWIN-X waterblock:

(sigh) However.... when I received the block, there was a problem. The block fit perfectly except that I was about 1mm from touching the GPU die, memory and VRM's. The mounting screw holes were 2mm high and this prevented proper contact. These mounts were threaded in and I contacted Bykski about some shorter ones, but unfortunately, they didn't have any. So I ordered a piece of 1/16", (1.58mm), copper plate and cut out some shims.

I then used the thermal pads that came with the block to cover the GPU die, memory and VRM's:

Then I put on the copper shims and covered the copper with Artic MX4 to give a better interface between the copper and the block:

After that, I assembled the card with the block:

Right now I need to decide what to do about the back plate, as it sticks out on the end. I could cut it, but I'm also thinking that I would be a good place to put some type of LCD display for temperatures, (I'm doing a vertical mount). Or I can just trim it down. Thought on this are appreciated!

Thanks. Parts are already purchased, and I installed the cpu and cooler on the MB today. I considered the 3600 but decided on the X version because I don't plan to OC the system, and the $30-ish difference was worth the slightly higher clock speeds to me. I also considered the Ryzen 7 3700x, but it wasn't worth the 50% price increase.

I considered just doing 16 GB but figured more is better, and the price difference wasn't that much. LOL

I can't find any information on the thermal paste, but like I said you can just use a qtip to clean it up.

I wouldn't remove the cooler just to clean it, if the paste is non conductive then it doesn't matter. If it is conductive or if you still want to remove it, use a qtip to carefully wipe up the excess.
