StDragon reacted to oscar7601 in Leaving the Wifi router behind a monitor. Will it affect speeds and range?
Well... It could affect the range and speed if the metal inside the monitor interferes with the electromagnetic field created by your WiFi router. But that's just theory. I'd say unless you are really on the edge of losing connection to the router already in some parts of your home, this should not make a very big difference.

StDragon got a reaction from Falcon1986 in Which of these 802.11ac PCIe network cards?
I would go with the Addon XWP3000R as it uses the Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 chipset; so the drivers won't be sketchy. Also, it's 802.11ax which is the newer WiFi 6 standard; it's backwards compatible with 802.11ac (WiFi 5) routers.

my guess is that this will be happening more often, especially with smaller manufacturers like google. they simply don't have the volume to justify getting the chips, like Apple does.

StDragon reacted to Kisai in Update: The Pixel 5a will most likely be a US and Japan exclusive due to chip shortage
Something tells me that they looks at the sales numbers of the previous models and decided that they could not justify the quantity of parts needed for bulk discounts, and likewise, TSMC clawed pack bulk discounts for everyone.

Everyone knows it all about money. For both epic and Apple it all comes down to money and both are trying to keep as much of it as they can.

I have my doubts about how well the software will work. Like if I say to someone "great play you are the shit" will that get filtered out and they think I was insulting them? Toxicity in games is definitely a problem but I'm not sure this is the solution. Also some of these filters are for concepts that are a lot more abstract than I think the AI would be able to understand.
Someone also pointed out that this would be nice for streamers if they want to bring on guests or have TTS donations enabled as an extra layer of security.

You can do whatever you want with your card but you have to at least acknowledge how bad the optics of this are from the POV of others.

Well, at least it wasn't malicious, if he's telling the truth. It's entirely possible he got over his head with the cost of the card. However, selling it at scalped prices is a dick move. At least sell it for what you paid, and pass it on.

The user himself confirmed that he got it from LTT store (see screenshot). This is so sad to see, the LTT team invested so much time and effort for people to do such a thing.
If someone could tag Linus in so he's aware that would be great.

I take it you've not seen the ugly details of SCO vs IBM? It was basically the same posit: copying code was infringement, and that bloody case has gone on so long it's nearly old enough to legally drink.

Sounds like it is accurately detecting Ubisoft products as malware to me. 🤷‍♂️

In any case, that's just Ubisoft's tool to detect if your PC meets the required specs of the game, by connecting and uploading your pc specs online. For MB, it probably looks as if it was some kind of invasive tool that scans your PC for some nefarious reason. It is also used in other applications, like any sort of scanning tool from Intel, Nvidia, etc.

IMO, it shouldn't even be a thing for Ubisoft, since at that point, you've already downloaded the damn game and wasted your time and bandwidth on it. They have their own launcher that they force people to use for their games, it shouldn't be hard for them to bake that into uPlay instead and save people's time and money if they somehow can't run the game they want to buy.

Business use; as in not-a-gamer market. They'll pay just about whatever it takes to operate and pass the cost down to the consumer. Also, must be a nice expense write-off.
