It is quite nice having significantly smaller vertical black bars, and if the content is centered properly throughout a video you can sometimes get away with zooming it to fit ?

@Darkman I did toy with the idea, briefly looking at parts from Lenovo prebuilts, but I couldn't find much about them, and was worried about their cooling potential.  You can see @ccRicers has linked one a few posts further up, which does look good admittedly.

I eventually concluded that a normal low profile solution would be best. The cooler isn't a limiting factor as all my options are lower than the ram sticks. The cooler will get direct air from outside the case, and in the final build the cpu and gpu will be in seperate compartments both running positive pressure. A heavily vented case back, and small exhaust fan in the front corner should help. Honestly cooling has always been a concern, so we may need to add more fans. But not much can be changed layout wise.

Have you considered looking on ebay for a cpu cooler from an all in one prebuilt computer? Majority are pretty compact and blower style so that would be nice for just getting the heat from the cpu directly out of the dreamcast shell.

Here let me just direct you to my experience made in a reddit post... They did not want the second board so it sits in my closet taking up space, really should use it as a target at the shooting range sometime. ?

It consumes as much power as an electric space heater but you can do more than produce heat with it cause it's a computer

Darkman got a reaction from TheSLSAMG in asus rx580 top edition or 1070 fe (2560x1080 75hz)
Okay, my S340 kept my 6700k (1.42v 4.7GHz) with a Noctua NH-U12P in the 60-70C range with SLI Asus GTX 680 4GB DCII cards. The top card would peak at a whole 80C. Currently the case has an X62 cooling my 6700k with vardars peaking at a whole 800rpm pulling air into the case. My current gpu (1070 strix) stays in the mid 60s and peaks at around 72C.

Airflow will not be an issue, especially if he gets a Founders Edition 1070 cause of the blower design not introducing heat into the case and just pulling air from inside.

Also the 1070 outperforms a RX 580 while consuming much less power. It will not struggle with 2560x1080 75Hz but it might not be able to fully utilize the 144Hz of a 2560x1440 panel. My 1070 struggles in games to stay 75FPS or higher average with my 3440x1440 75Hz panel but that is a much bigger jump from 2560x1080.

@WereCat Spoiler: I still have the board, it has memory issues and makes a useless waste of space that MSI wouldn't replace again..

This is the latest design.  Here's some more shots:

    Most notably, you will see:
Designated places to install magnets that hold it together Additional USB ports moved to the other side The GPU shelf is simpler and more cutout Relocation of power button from side to front Although these changes are compared with what I would consider the previous "major revision", which actually wasn't posted as far as I can tell.  The images above this most recent post are actually from a rather old model (with the exception of the top one of course)

Below is what should have been posted, but we're beyond that now so it's "just for the record" I guess
The main differences are the GPU shelf cutout and the DC jack placement, which incidentally has been moved back since

Hey uh don't worry this isn't dead. Still waiting on that print, but everything else is ready. I'm considering a few things though:

    - Buy a VLP DDR4 SODIMM from Apacer or Innodisk.
    - Make the case a tad smaller vertically.
    - Designing small units that could house audio equipment, HDDs, fans...etc. Completely optional, so keeping the case at its current volume.

The card seems to be almost brand new, when I took it out of the anti-static bag the window still has its plastic cover over it and the I/O shield is spotless.

Note: Dialed the 8120 back to 4.6GHz because for some reason this ram gets upset if I run it past this speed... Damn slow wams. On a plus note the blower style cooler has removed a lot of temperature issues I've been running into.

    Update: I Stole a HDD
    (From my main system)

Here lies my 8-year-old 1TB Seagate Barracuda that has been apart of my main computer since 2010... When it came in a Dell Inspiron 580S. Just gives me an excuse to buy a 3TB drive later.

Ah yes, it needs internet! I have just what it needs!

Lovely long wait for windows to finish installing... After going through it once cause fan on H50 got disconnected, overheated, and powered off mid installation corrupting the install and somehow bricking the flash drive with the iso too...

Aaaanndd overclocking time... With some cooling problems due to a strong lack of airflow in this case. I need to cut out the front sometime so it actually draws in fresh air from the front too.

Good thing I remembered (saved) what clocks and volts are stable on the 8120 and 680.

Here I present to you, another system I built with spare hardware that I don't need but really wanted.

    Backstory:
The motherboard, processor, and graphics card were used in my second system for mostly plex, and backing up of some data but once I upgraded my main rig I downsized that computer to matx and gave it my Xeon E3-1230 v3. I always wanted to find a purpose for the old hardware that was retired. I decided I wanted to do a sleeper build and one of my friends had this lovely Gateway K7-700 shell that he used for his system that he had done some simple things to. These include: USB and audio on front, and painting the interior black. He finally upgraded it so I picked it up from him asap.
