RageTester got a reaction from Akluin in Computer teacher not knowing anything about computers
If his laptop can handle it, I don't see a problem. Professors get distracted and have to do multiple things at the same time... If the stream starts lagging or his computer shuts down during such meetings often, then you know he doesn't know what he is doing.
It is true some teenagers can hack better than pros hired by the government... it's a generation thing.

RageTester reacted to minibois in Can you image search on pinterest?
You can also try to simply use a reverse image search engine (i.e. Google, Bing, Yandex, etc.).
Pinterest - in my experience - is just a website with images stolen borrowed from other websites, so the actual original source might not even be Pinterest at all.

Tell him about a relatively new Google Chrome feature, the Tab Groups.
Right click a tab and you can make a group and add tabs to that group. Really helpful for people that keep a bunch of tabs open, so it's much easier to keep track of them all.
P.S. I don't recommend hanging out on a forum during class

RageTester got a reaction from Letgomyleghoe in Why don't all the HDMI ports of a TV support ARC?
Have yet to brake full size HDMI port, so I guess it's non issue.
But assuming it's the port you use all the time, it would break down 1st... but by the time you could already afford cheaper TV with better specs...

My windows has started doing exactly the same thing today. I think it's the update.
I can't even open the settings because that freezes/closes too.

RageTester got a reaction from Flannelist in Boot keeps getting corupted
How old is your power supply? Not enough power and often sudden shutdowns will for sure cause corruption.

Problem is you don't need heating all year long, and mining rig becomes old and not profitable fast...
Just get a cheap oven, cook food and release the heat.

RageTester got a reaction from Flannelist in SATA copy / clone speeds slow.
Problem is you are copying a ton of small files... 1 huge file would for sure have higher transfer speed. Cloning copies everything, including temporary files and trash you forgot to delete.
I would use a third party copy manager like TeraCopy and only copy the files I really need.

crypto mining is processing transaction of crypto, in case you didn't know
so it's not just running the same code repeatedly, generating the same thing like a timespy loop
i mean... if it's no longer profitable then no one would do it, yes
but what makes it "wrong"?
I am genuinely curious, btw

How often are you updating BIOS on a laptop? Not like you gonna change a motherboard, better leave things that are working as they are.
Try disabling fast boot...

Criminal organisations usually make money with drugs, last time I checked, dealers at the street corner doesn't take crypto but cash ... shouldn't we ban cash?
Criminals will always find a way, if they rely on crypto currencies and it gets banned, then they'll simply switch to something else. Specific precise actions against a very complex issues is rather pointless and shortsighted, as pointed above, terrorists and other criminal organizations also love cash, and all these criminals existed WAY before crypto did. But for some reason crypto is now the scapegoat ...
Please explain, as this isn't at all the experience most have had with crypto currencies, and if it was a pyramid scheme, why would terrorist and other criminal use it ?

It really isn't. I suggest fully educating yourself on it then formulating an opinion. If people are concerned about frivolous power usage we need to ban all TVs, consoles, and gaming PCs as they don't contribute nearly as much to society as crypto does.

RageTester reacted to Eigenvektor in Thinking about making a DIY flash stick
Alternatively you could just place your USB stick in a shock-/water-resistant case and it should be "good enough" for pretty much all uses cases and probably more durable than the rugged stick on its own.

RageTester reacted to PlayStation 2 in Where can I download The Simpsons: Hit and Run for PC?
If playing on PC is your desired way to go, just find a used copy on eBay and a CD drive to install it, assuming you don't already have one. There are various valid reasons to play it on PC, namely its surprisingly extensive modding community.
On the other hand, if you desire to play the game on a console (or even through emulation), I'd recommend looking for a GameCube or Xbox copy. The PlayStation 2 version is rather subpar in performance in comparison to the GameCube and Xbox versions.
