freeagent reacted to ShrimpBrime in Poll about love
Your wife was right. You didn't need a poll for that.
Must be young love. When your women knows she's right.... She's right. Even if there is a slim chance or total chance she is wrong..... She's still right.
Second tip I can give you, let her vent. It may seem pointed to you, just shut up and answer when prompted. Save yourself from many arguments just "taking the heat".
The more I drive my car, the more I love it.
The older my puppy grows, the more I love it.
The more my kids grow, the more I love them..... till they move out, the I REALLY love them!!
So yep. Wifey is right. doesn't matter what you think 😛

freeagent reacted to ShrimpBrime in How do you tell that you lack RAM?
MineCraft.
small rant, forgive me.
I will NOT purchase it AGAIN. I have it on 2 XBOXs phones and have to purchase again for PC? Nope. I'm done with that deal.
That said, heavy modded MineCraft, Yes. That is true. (My 9 year old wants badly mods on PC. No no no. No more Minecraft taking dads money kid.

freeagent reacted to ShrimpBrime in Intel is dropping its overclocking focused warranty
Because nobody purchased the extended warranty and Intel usually replaces burnt chips either way. They have no way to prove you overclocked the piss out of it and it took a shit. So the warranty is generally a useless way for them to make additional revenue.
I purchased this plan on a 2500K years and years ago. I OCed the shit out of it and sold it used. I asked the buyer if he wanted the warranty information and he did not want need or care about it. The chip was used for many years in fact. BigE4U at EOCF if I remember right, is whom I sold it to.
Wasted my money on that one. First and last time I purchase an OC warranty.

freeagent reacted to jonnyGURU in Power Supply blew out my motherboard. Will EVGA cover it?
Because the board wasn't drawing too much current over all. Just too much current on a single +3.3V lead. That's why this isn't a PSU problem. This is a motherboard problem.
My snarkiness aside (for the benefit of OP and others that may run into this).....
This board pre-dates GPU mining by 1 year. It's a "gaming" motherboard. While it's made for 3-way SLI/Crossfire with it's three x16 slots, you have to remember that 2x and 3x SLI/Crossfire does not scale 2x and 3x and does not require 2x and 3x the power. It seems that the +3.3V pins on all of the PCIe slots are fed by the same wire off the 24-pin (would be good to get a set up and put a clamping ammeter on the +3.3V to confirm).
Mix this with an equally old graphics card with an unusually high load on the +3.3V and multiple by two and you're going to burn up power supplies.
OP is actually lucky. I would just buy a replacement 24-pin cable, a new motherboard, put it all back together again and try again.

freeagent got a reaction from SpiderMan in Stupid Question about Cpus
I just left my 3770K and it was fine for gaming.. 6 cores isn't as weak as you are making it out to be. But if you focus on cinebench and other benchmarks, then yes, 6 cores gets its ass handed to it by its bigger brothers. I looked at the benchmarks too, Intel is still relevant, and still very good. I do have an AMD now, but I haven't had it long enough to turn me into a fanboy lol. I get what you are saying, in the older days I ran top of the line hardware that usually crushed what most other users were running, especially if it was an AMD. Luckily the future takes time. There is no such thing as future proof as long as there are IPC gains to be had, and I guess moar coarz. I tried that 10 years ago, only to have the next gen quad core come out to destroy my 6 core.

Honestly, there is like 2-3 guys I watch for tech stuff on youtube. Its purely entertainment for me. 1 guy I find educational, because I have been out of the loop a little for a few years while I was breeding offspring. And I like him, so that helps.
Honestly man, you cant go wrong with either choice. They both have their shit together sorta. I know a lot of guys rag on Intel, but lets be real here. If I gave you a hammer and sent you off into the woods, how long until you can send me an email? Guys are acting like they can just fab this shit up while eating cornflakes and skimming PH.
Intel was good to me, no complaints. AMD is good to me too, a little boring.. good ram helps.

Agree but the value for money still a consideration. You don't need 8 cores if you just gaming. Even a 4 cores can do that.
Just different people have different use case on specific hardware choice to accomplished the needs.

That Noctua cooler is probably not a good idea for use on that CPU. Just sayin.

Sort of, Intel is more make it colder and you can increase the clocks (increase multi), bit more manual. AMD the clocks are real time directly relational to temperature, same as GPU boost.

What the crap are these people talking about...
The Prime TX is the newer version, but there shouldn't be any difference between them, other than the name. The question is, why would you want the old one...?

freeagent got a reaction from leadeater in Intel is dropping its overclocking focused warranty
Is that really any different from Intel? Keep it cool and it keeps its boost, depending on settings..
-
freeagent reacted to leadeater in Intel is dropping its overclocking focused warranty
Overlocking Ryzen in a lot of ways just boils down to "Make colder, goes faster", since the clocks are dynamic based on temperature. So maybe the best overclocking method is move somewhere bloody cold and put the PC outside

freeagent got a reaction from Galapagos in Is my cooler ok?
Shameless plug for LeGrand Macho RT.. it’s offset so it won’t block your ram like a D15, cools just as well, and is quieter out of the box. Bonus is you can run up to 90w TDP with no fan on the cooler. I ran my 3770K semi passively at 4500 and it was fine 👌🏻

freeagent got a reaction from Galapagos in Is my cooler ok?
Its because so many people say the 212 is awesome. Its been regurgitated so much that newcomers don't know any better.
But its not lol.. its ok for a stock type cooler, but if you want to get hardcore, you don't use coolermaster.
I always get chastised for saying the 212 is junk. It will work.. but there are much, much better options out there.
But hey! What do I know 🙂
