It's more of a feature for overclocking focused mobos, as opposed to just overclocking capable. I'd also like to see power and reset buttons on mobo, makes using them on a bench more convenient.

I’m still using my 3770K and running it at 4600. I didn’t bother reading your other thread, I didn’t finish the first post lol. More ranting than anything.

Well, the 5900X is capable of boosting 300MHz higher. The 5600X is super easy to cool, and if you don't need a ton of cores it should be a good fit for you. But.. the 5900X is a fucking beast .. and so is the 5600X 🙂

It too is fairly easy to cool with a high end HSF or AIO

I have both CPU's and like them enough to keep them 😄

That’s why I said to keep using your 6700K. Intel isn’t worth buying right now, and you couldn’t get an AMD to work for you, so just keep using what you have.. buy the best cooler you can and run the shit out of it. You aren’t going to hurt it.

You'll notice an improvement in performance, but to be honest it's not a good time to buy for Intel. If you are cool with AMD, they have good options. But 10th gen is outdated and 11th gen sucks. I would rather use 10th gen than 11th right now, however. The 10900k still beats 11th gen at pretty much everything meaningful.

I would just buy a good cooler and clock the shit out of your 6700K. It should be ok still, I know my 3770K is still ok. At least you know your old system is decent. Cant imagine why you would buy 11th gen with ADL just around the corner. Crazy.
3770K with Z77 OC Formula was pretty solid for me, but the move to Asus B550 and 5900X is pretty good. Not perfect, but pretty damn close..

Also no problems either, has been just as stable if not more than my Intel systems.

Personally, in my experience, sleep/wake states are always messy no matter what system you're using.

Especially my work laptop, it goes into full potato mode from wake. I just shut the fucker down, it's much simpler and less headache.

Nah.. You can achieve supreme stability with 4 sticks with not much effort. Granted, you wont get 4 to scale as far as 2.. but I also have a hard time beating scores or times that I have posted with 4 sticks by running 2 faster, sometimes much much faster. My 3200C14 sticks have been to 4200 flat 14s, and 4400 flat 15s..they can go a bit faster but not sure if I run into a board limitation or the sticks themselves.. not bad for 3200s.. When it gets a little colder I will play with some voltage, I don't have much though.. Dammit Strix.

Its not as sensitive as 5600X, 5800X, or 5900X because it is slightly detuned. I read that somewhere on the internet. I have been down to 48-49ns with my 5600X, but usually see the rest of the lineup in the 51-53ns range. I really had to lean on mine to get into 53ns range. I am normally around 54-55ns.. I have seen a couple of freak 5900s running like a 5600X but there is a skilled operator running that machine.

    Anywhoo.. I wouldn't mind trying a good 2x 16GB B-Die kit.

It's the Die quality and scaling you want. The CL 18 kit probably won't do it's rated frequency.

Gotta remember the CPU memory controller is only good for 3200mt/s, so it would be wise to spend the better money on the better kit. The one I gave you is a B-Die set. Very fast. 16-16-16-36. It would be measurable and a noticeable difference between them two kits believe it or not. Just for the fact the B-Die kit is much more likely to run it's rated frequency on your setup.

@freeagent could probably give you some pointers with tweaking also.

Ryzen 5000 can reach that speed if the memory modules are good (and good mobo OC feature).
If i were you, i would buy a cheaper Trident Z samsung 3200mhz CL14 , it will reach that speed relatively easy.
That memory i bet it's the same one, they just factory OC it for you, what's the fun?

I had a 3600XT for about a month or two.. I didn't bother with PBO much, I didn't really like how it worked.. I focused on all core clocks with that CPU. No PBO, no boosting, 1 clock 1 voltage. I was able to run it at 4400 with 1.2375, and 4500 with 1.3375. The 4500 was not good for all loads just because of the voltage I had to use. 4400 was good for everything. And I was able to run my Le Grand Macho RT with no fan on that CPU running at 4400. Pretty schweet.

This is my son's computer and I'm always trying to improve performance for him but in all reality he could care less.🤔😁 All he really does on it is game, watch videos, and stream with his friends. So basically you are saying with a normal load they should still have a little breathing room but at heavy load be pegged? Yeah it is definitely a tedious operation but to be honest with you I'm really enjoying learning. Thanks for your input. I appreciate it.

They should touch, it really depends on the type of load the cpu is receiving. Hit it with a heavy load and you will hit edc fairly easily. You want something light but substantial to let the cores stretch their legs. It really is a bit of a balancing act. What works for me might bomb for you. The CPUs are not consistent, each of them are different.

Noctua NH-D15 with front fan removed / NH-D15S / Thermalright PA120 / FC 140 / FS 140 / Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 4 / Deepcool Assassin III / Cooler Master Masterair MA624. Any of these double tower heatsinks is fully compatible with your memory with the front fan removed (they all have trimmed heatsinks). The difference is 2-3c degrees tops for less noise.

Additionally Thermalright Macho Rev.C / ARO-M14 as well.

All of them except Dark Rock Pro / Assassin III are <160mm height as well, which is why I'd skip those two if u think u might change cases soonish.

Thermalright pa120 would also be compatible. And it doesn't break the bank. Its currently the most underrated cooler that I know of. There are also other Thermalright coolers that are worth taking a look at.
