    My thoughts
8 is too young to be playing video games (or really have any full-time career) professionally, whether streaming or not. It's certainly healthy to play video games, but long-term effects, such as missing out on curricular activities, or other social activities, may be detrimental. That said, $33k is an astounding figure to make at such a young age. Hopefully his parents do not take advantage - i strongly detest such pageantry. Properly managed, this is a great opportunity for this young individual. All the best and congratulations - but be careful and don't rely on this for a career.

    [EDIT]
This also sets himself up for University if he wishes too - good amount for an education, where cost is a large barrier. Certainly more than i've ever made from a video game ($20 - used it for printing money haha)

Gamer Schnitzel reacted to Rohith_Kumar_Sp in [India] Social media platforms must remove content within 36 hours of govt order and other Censorship rules
With growing heat amongst users resorting to take it to social media and seeking foreign influence for affairs that are taking place in India, the govt has decided to tackle it by censoring the content instead.

Similar to linus's recent video about censorship in China which was released yesterday, India today has announced its gonna mandate all online media and social companies to remove  content that Indian govt doesn't like similar to linus's "Chinese Steam"

This also means its a pink slip for the govt to remove any content they don't like

Gamer Schnitzel reacted to Vishera in Audible controversy (Amazon how could you?!!)
    I will explain:
If you publish your audible book exclusively on Audible then you will get only 40% from every copy sold.
Same here (but not exclusive publishing),just replace the percentage numbers.
So if someone buys your book for $1,
    You get $0.4
The buyer applies for a refund
    You return $1
Amazon keeps the $0.6 from the purchase for themselves.

So basically you "return" more than you earned for every refund.

It's even worse if you get only 25% or even 13%.

    It's a scam.

While Nvidia apparently have rules in place to prevent this kind of thing from happening they've not exactly been enforcing these rules onto retailers.
So now we have EU Retailer ProShop listing 3060s for 499 Euros whiles Nvidias suggested price is 329 Euros. Thats 52% above MSRP and it gets even worse in Poland where ProShop are asking a staggering 75% above MSRP.

I'm very torn on this one. Normally I'd be saying they can sell them for whatever price they want and the customers will either buy them or not, that's a free economy. In this case though they know they'll sell them at that price because right now you have more chance of finding a unicorn that shits golds bars than you do of getting a GPU. Its very exploitative and I really hope Nvidia steps in on this one.

That would merely rebalance the demand, not solve the shortage.  This probably has more to do with the auto sector taking major manufacturing hits due to the ongoing chip shortages.

Doubt that would help much. Tariffs might actually be raising consumer hesitancy to buy, which in the eyes of this operations, is *probably* a good thing, when regarding the fact that this document doesn't actually mention reducing the cost of consumer electronics. Yippe.

I doubt removing the tariff is going to help much, the only way to prevent supply chain issues is to have more semiconductor factories in the US and EU instead of relying on Taiwan and China.

Remove the tariffs first, then begin helping from there. Biden is not helping if he doesn't remove the tariffs first.

    Summary

A big amount of magnets that can trigger medical devices like peacemaker or other medical equipment used in the body, that could pose to be deadly hazard for some. That a heart company used to try and recreate what could trigger this in a study with such a phone. Found out by having it close or in the chest pocket (if you have that) could trigger the device. The iphone 12 seems to have enough mangets to trigger these devices in a certain distance.

    My thoughts
This could be what makes a law about magnets in commonly used products, if it gets enough bad attention or find it as importent enough to make a rule about that on said devices, etc? Only if this get enough of the right attention. Like if with foods, you can have this much per ... but the same for magnets? like excluding stuff that is just mangets or based around magnets? (magnets/stickers on your freezer etc)

What does it matter what the item is?  Most of the crap people buy on a day to day basis is not needed or essential.  Yeah complaining on the internet isn't going to change anything but it boggles my mind that people are defending these companies.

Look man, what are you going to do about it? The prices suck, nobody's going to disagree with you on that. Maybe if we all just piss and moan about it some more on the internet the GPU manufacturers will have pangs of conscience and lower prices again!

Nobody needs a GPU. You don't like what they cost, don't buy them. Get a console instead, take up a different hobby entirely like basket-weaving or something. This circlejerk where we harumph about how outrageous it all is accomplishes nothing.

Then don't buy them. The card makers are going to make as much profit as they can by marking the cards up to the point where they can no longer get enough people to buy them. What would you suggest as a solution? Somebody is going to tell the makers of luxury goods how much they're allowed to charge for a toy? That's a bit of a can of worms to open, don't you think?

If a couple of store owners "choose" not to sell any of the new cards and pass up that business based on a moral stand (which for all we know is just putting a nice spin on not being able to get any to sell anyway), that's their choice.

You haven't shared any "info" at all. Cards expensive, people grumpy, more details in our 11 o'clock edition!

Your post is truly just a rant, and it's getting very tiresome seeing people in this hobby, many of whom already have very capable PC's, getting into a snit about not being able to upgrade to the latest and greatest as if this even ranks anywhere in the top 100 or so injustices our society is struggling with.

Definitely ranks at the bottom of problems facing this world at the moment but why is it a crazy thought that people have a problem with this pricing practice?  You're telling me that if you went to buy something at a store, even a luxury item, and their in store price was almost triple what they advertised on their website you would be ok with that?  Just because it's not an essential item doesn't make it any less of a scummy practice.

No one, and I mean no one, repeat no one, is getting screwed.  These are choices to own these commodities.  These arent a necessity they are an option.

Blame the consumerism.  Not the manufacturer, they are going to charge whatever the market allows for the most amount of profit.
