mmk reacted to Truedell in Which One is the power switch connector on motherboard
Usually for the the power, reset, HDD light, power light and speaker they will have a separate drawing because its just a bunch of small pins that you wouldn't be able to see in the scale of the main drawing.

mmk reacted to Slick in Floatplane Subscriptions & Migrating to Floatplane.com
As you may have heard we'll be moving all subscriptions off the LTT Forums and on to Floatplane.com. You will no longer be able to subscribe through the forum AND all billing agreements made through the forum will be cut off. At this time we request that all users cancel their subscriptions on the forum and start new subscriptions on Floatplane.com.
Subscriptions done through the forum have been a major accounting problem for a long time now as the forums billing agreements have all been with Linus Media Group instead of Floatplane media which is an accounting nightmare that we are going to try to avoid in 2019.
As a gift for dealing with the hassle of migrating things over, and to cover any time you had left on your subscription, we will be granting two bonus months to all creators that you are subscribed to on Floatplane.com AND you’ll gain access to an exclusive live chat emoji all on January 31st.
Steps to migrate successfully:
1) Cancel your subscription on the LTT Forum
Method 1, Cancelling through the Forum:
Hide contents
Go to this link: https://linustechtips.com/main/clients/billing-agreements/
click view details(on the right)
Click on view(on the right)
Then click cancel(on the left)
These steps are correct for most people but sometimes the cancel button is sneaky and decides to be somewhere else or isn't there at all.. This is another reason we are moving away from the LTT forums as we can't fix some of the payments problems. If these steps don't work for you please move on to Method 2.
Method 2, Cancelling through PayPal:
Hide contents
Go to this link: https://www.paypal.com/myaccount/autopay/
Scroll through your active autopays and click on 'Linus'.
On the right hand side there should be a Status row that shows 'Active' Click the 'Cancel' Button beside it.
Click 'Cancel Automatic Payments' on the next popup.
If this fails for whatever reason.. Move on to method 3.
Method 3(Last Resort), Sudo cancel subscription:
Hide contents
Send an email to support@floatplane.com
Let them know your forum Username/Email and they'll take care of you. Just a heads up that the wait time will be higher than normal as we are receiving a lot of support tickets right now.
2) Create or sign in to your existing Floatplane.com account, you can use a forum linked account, that's no problem at all.
3) Subscribe to whatever creators you want to support. https://www.floatplane.com/browse
4) Sit back and enjoy the content!
5) If you had a yearly subscription – Please send an email to support@floatplane.com with your forum account name and your floatplane account name. They will make sure you get the time you had remaining on your forum subscription added to your new floatplane website subscription.
Yearly options on the new site are not available at this time but will be soon.
If all else fails.. Just send an email to support@floatplane.com with any relevant account names, emails, etc. and we'll have you taken care as soon as possible!
Thanks!

mmk got a reaction from STERPH in LTX 2019 Suggestions!
You guys have probably thought of this already, but since the expo is downtown at the convention center, perhaps you can hit up the Pan Pacific and some of the other decent hotels in the west end and see if they would be willing to offer some discounts on hotel stays for the convention visitors attending?

mmk got a reaction from SpacePeanut in Any suggestions for getting from Seattle to Vancouver?
Can always fly to Vancouver via Seattle. Pretty sure there are daily flight between the two cities. Also can take Amtrak from Seattle to Vancouver, not sure of the schedule, or rent a car, it's only a couple hour drive or so.

mmk reacted to Pixel5 in Can't understand where to store stuff
what you have there is for sure a hybrid HDD which is a normal HDD with a bit of flash storage bolted on.
you have no control over what is stored on this flash storage, the idea is that the system will see what files are used often and move them to the flash storage for faster access.

mmk reacted to MkaiL in Question about fan splitter
The third pin is missing because your motherboard can only read the rpm signal of one fan and not both (on a single header). That's normal and it's perfectly fine to use.

Did you erase the original drive, if not, then just swap them out. If you formatted the original drive, you may have to load windows back onto it.

mmk got a reaction from TechyBen in What is benefits if i make windows 10 account
Used to use an MS account for my computer, then after one of the updates, I lost all access to my network storage. Just no way I could get to access it again, many other folks had similar problems when I was checking out the MS forums. Only way I was finally able to get access was to change my MS account to a local account, and suddenly every thing started working fine again. Haven't tried changing it back to a MS account since that problem, can't afford to loose access to my network storage again.

mmk reacted to jakkuh_t in DIY WiFi Cam Tutorial
I think I got everything... if you have any questions, ask below
------
The first step is to decide what you want your setup to be, as you'll need to know how many parts to order. There is a few different options, and once you've chosen, click on the parts list for your respective setup.
1. Single Camera w/o hub server
Parts list: Pros Least expensive setup Cons Lower attainable FPS/res 2. Single Camera w/ hub server - *RECOMMENDED*
Parts list: Pros allows for future expandability higher attainable FPS/res more reliable vs. no hub Cons costs more (you have to buy a second Raspi) 3. Multiple Cameras w/ hub server - *RECOMMENDED*
Parts list: Pros higher attainable FPS/res more reliable vs. no hub Cons cost (lol, 2 cameras + hub is still cheaper than a Nest cam) 4. Multiple cameras w/ a desktop computer as a hub
This is a setup that you can build, but I haven't investigated it yet, so stay tuned on this.
My recommendation is to have a hub server regardless of the number of cameras to ensure the best possible image quality, but if your budget doesn't permit, a single camera w/o a hub server can still work decently.
Click on the header for your desired setup to see the actual DIY steps.

didn't worked
I think I found the issue:
I tried something else and found that I had a similar issue like jayz2cents. with the power cable from the HDD I can see the SSD in bios. with the other power cable the SSD is not visible. Tried different SSDs and they all work
The power cable from the power supply is faulty. Huh. Feel better now
