Lol, thanks for responding, it's most appreciated,  😊👍

I'm looking more for a close translation of that original phrase (because for some reason I think that matters 😊😊😊 )

Okay, no worries. I don't want to offend anyone. It's just in fun.

    I'll stick with "humper". :0)

Thanks for the input, I hope the process might have had some value, and that the humour isn't lost in the translation. ;0)

Thanks so much for responding, it's really appreciated. :0)

And yeah, it's a crazy topic, sorry about that 😊

I'm interested in linguistics; I studied a little in academia. The stress timing of the term "early humper" made me think of German, and it was a Dackel (which, if you believe wikipedia, is a German breed bread to hunt badgers) so, er...yeah... 😊

It's surprising to hear they're not called Dachshund's in Germany; I think probably all (?) of the English speaking world calls them Dachshunds. Dackel's much easier to pronounce.

Also thanks for the translations, that's perfect. I guess "humping" is probably a uniquely English expression. I ran a search for the etymology and it dates back to 1785 and in its vulgar form originates from the humping of ones back, so if there's not a specific vulgar/vernacular German expression for that specific act, the closest approximation could possibly be from the same root as humpelte. Although I think that might be closer to the English verbs "hobble" or "limp" and "buckel" as in "Buckel in der straße" might be closer.

But yeah, this is a ridiculous topic, so I'll just go with "Er ist ein früher humper." or "Dieser Dackel ist ein früher humper!" and leave you guys alone. 🙃

Thanks so much 😊 Sorry for bothering you guys; I'll leave you alone now. 😊

Hi. I have to admit I don't speak German but I was hoping that you guys might be able to help me with something?

I'm looking for the German translation of an English slang term and thought you guys might be able to help...?

In English when a dog mounts another dog or tries to mount a persons leg it's termed "humping", e.g. "he's humping my leg" or "he tried to hump that other boy dog".

I'm basically looking for the equivalent to the word "humper" in German. Is there an equivalent or the closest equivalent to the word "humper"? i.e. 'one who humps': "humper" ?

I know it's a weird question but it came out of a joke conversation I was having with someone about their Dacshund; someone called it an "early humper" (because it's still a puppy) and I said I'm sure there must be a German term for that (because he's a Dachshund) so, now I'm trying to find the German term for "early humper". The closest I can get is "ein früher humper".  :0D

...I know it's completely ridiculous but if you guys can help it'd be really appreciated.

    Edit: P.S. B4: yes, I know, I'm an idiot.  ;0P

Dachshund is one accepted name in Germany, actually, but practically nobody uses it, at least nobody that I know. And yes, they are called that way because they were bred to hunt badgers

    For those who care;

I managed to set both up w the 40gigs combo and both are super fast. 16/40 will be used as dual channel and 24 as single. So yes it works! Both chips are Samsung same build just diff size so maybe that’s why.

    As per title...

...it arrived loose in a box with no retail packaging. What are the odds that it's been used and isn't a good overclocker?

I'm concerned I've negatively biased my silicone lottery chances.

You only get 12 months warranty on an oem cpu. The retail version has 3 years. Not really an issue though.

Thanks guys, I greatly appreciate the care and feedback. It means alot to me, and helped me out. I've spent the last few days on my own, processing life and organizing myself.

The hardest part about all of this is.. the loved one who passed was my best friend. His name was Shadden, and he will forever be missed by myself and by many others. I considered him my brother.

The lesson this taught me was.. Nothing is forever, and you need to appreciate what you have while it's here, because tomorrow is never guaranteed. And once something is gone from your life, recognize and be grateful for the benefit and impact it made on your life while it was there (it or they).

    Thanks again, everyone. ❤️

    It depends on the person.

I lost my mom(57) this past January (cancer, not Covid).
I pretty much took care of her every needs as she lived with me in her last few years of life, so we were relatively close.
    Her passing hit me HARD.

I have to say, the first day is the hardest. The first week is hard emotionally, everywhere I looked in the house I could "see" and "hear" her. It took me a few months to get used to her absence...
The biggest pain in the ass is all the paperwork with the gov, credit agencies, the will, etc. It is STILL not done and it has almost been 9 months. Still waiting for answer from her employer's RRSP (401k in the US?)... Apparently they aren't allowed to transfer any money "right now" due to Covid...

The best thing you can do, is get busy and change your mind from it.
I started college the very next day. I wasn't really in the right state of mind, but still went for it because I know she wouldn't have wanted me to just drop everything because of her.

    Grieve.

Get counselling if it gets too bad or stays bad for too long.

Get counselling anyway to help stop you succumbing to depression.

compatibility is only for xmp afaik, not super hard to tweak timings and get em to work on any board. wouldnt post at xmp on my z390 maximus hero but they work fine with some fiddling about. its tedious but not hard, may or may not be for you. you should be able to oc the memory on the strix too, just not as extreme.

i hear the unify kicks ass but i also totally get the deal with the asus, if youre more comfortable with it then it shouldnt be bad. no reason why it wouldnt handle the 10600k without a hitch. i think the unify has superior memory ocing and i know several people doing silly things with it and 4x8gb of patriot 4400c19 dimms, but you may not like the bios/software/aesthetics which are perfectly valid points to consider

intel cpu's can/do benefit from overclocking by a fair bit so you could go for it..
the boards that were listed above are decent, the vision G and the aorus elite are the same thing when it comes to vrm iirc (that being a 12 phase with sic651) but it's just different looks mainly afaik.
and the tomahawk is also quite decent and uses 12 NPC302155 55A stages. and the gaming edge wifi uses 12 ISL99360's, and all of the boards listed above are more than enough for a 10600k.

As it turns out, i did receive yet another lemon of a graphics card from Asus. I Tried a different GPU on my system that worked perfectly, confirming that all other components in my PC are running correctly. To confirm this i also tested the faulty GPU on a friends system and the same issue was observed.

I have now gone in for my second RMA, hoping for the best.
