No, I don't think so. You're ignoring everyone's advice of your own Volition.

Mining the laptop will keep the card on power overload and at high temps constantly. Don't you think overloading it 24/7 may have a teeny tiny negative impact?

I fully expect this to be broken on the OS and firmware scheduling side like Zen was in 2017. Intel need heavy duty commitment to make this works DN have to do some very careful management as, if a critical process gets assigned to a little core under heavy workloads, this could produce massive stutter in applications such as editing, games, photography and etc. It will be interesting to see it play out

You know what also matters? Design flaws that break the machine fast.

    Like the following.

If your laptop is in a humid room, the display connector shorts out the CPU data pin to the Display VID pin and sends up to 52 volts to the CPU, killing it instantly.
The fuzes are low quality and never serve their function of saving any component when there is overload.
The TB3 controllers frequently fail and explode (literally, look at Rossmann for evidence)
The display flex cables are super fragile and tend to tear if you open it slightly more aggressively.
The internal power circuitry is routed via the keyboard and trackpad so if your tracpad has issues, the whole system fails. For comparison, most laptops can have the trackpad explode and still continue to work fine. Even 200$ chromebooks aren't this retardedly designed.
The cooling solution runs the CPU and GPU at 100*C so as to be thin which in turn causes damage over time and destroys them as anything over 90 is not safe for them long-term
The Apple customer support on offer is utter shit and you will get quoted 300-1000$ for their design flaws even if it's not your fault

Just, this is in 3000$ laptops. This is insane. Even 500$ Acer Aspire models are more durable, not to mention the military standards of business-class laptops like ThinkPads, EliteBooks or Latitudes.
Apple's laptops LOOK good but are absolutely terrible if you know the basics of electrical engineering or PCB design

We have no concrete information but we can just remember 2004-2005 when Dell were being paid 1 million per month by Intel to avoid Athlon 64 x2 sooo...imagine 10 million per month.

Main mistake is investing into an XPS - they're notorious for being poor quality and having therma/power issues. Not to mention eGPU is basically dead.

I mean, even as a laptop or AIO - it's outrageously expensive. I know it's Apple and they sell the brand more than the product but I would have expected 1,700-1,800$ for that config, not 2,300$

EDIT @BlueScope819 they'll probably remove half the cooling and lower fan speeds because it's not Apple if it doesn't run at 100*C and melt itself over time.

The mobile 2060 is not really that much faster than 1660 Ti due to power limits. Look for a properly cooled Ryzen and 1660 Ti model. An example is the HP Omen 15 or the Asus Zephyrus G14/15. Also consider the Eluktronics RP-15. And you can skip intel options as a whole. The i7 10750H is slower than the Ryzen 5 4600H while the i7 is hotter and has worse battery life. The 7nm Renoir COUs from AMD are extremely good in laptops and deliver dekstop-like performance for less money.

5x5 got a reaction from Bombastinator in Should I return this laptop and try for a better one? IPS GLOW/backlight bleed
I went through several laptops when choosing my own - the thicker the bezels, the less bleed they had. It's also why this was never an issue 5 years ago. Laptops had normal bezels and monitors too so the backlight was properly insulated and didn't "bleed"

5x5 reacted to Bombastinator in Should I return this laptop and try for a better one? IPS GLOW/backlight bleed
I generally would choose backlight bleed over dead pixels.  That’s some unusually bad backlight bleed.  @5x5 May be right in that it’s a bezel narrowness issue And thing generally don’t get much better.  I personally would rather have a thicker bezel, (with the increased hand real estate that goes with it) and no dead pixels.

The problem is returning it only once might not do because the next one could have dead pixels on it.  That has become a recently worse monitor problem as well.  Is it lame? Yes.

Look at the Asus Zephyrus G14 or G15. Two of the best laptops for 2020 and seem to fit your needs perfectly.
