Ill give ya a handful right here -
    1. Build quality, MacBooks have far superior build quality (good example is the chassis and track pad)
    2. OSX, a lot of people simply enjoy it better than Windows
    3. Even if you get a MB, you can run Windows on it later if you wish to do so.
    4. Battery life on MacBooks is generally far superior to most Windows laptops (mostly, not always the case)
    5. Apple's insurance - Yeh, its actually quite good.

There are many reasons to get a MacBook over a Windows machine.

Christopher Frost is great if you concentrate on the facts of the review and disregard the opinions, simply because he is too nice, I've never seen him give a bad review, he just likes everything;P

The tamron you are talking about, is it the SP 24-70mm  f/2.8 VC? Those were considered quite good and I do have the 70-200mm of that series myself.

The truth is, ti depends on the particular lens and what you'll use it for, on what body etc. For instance imperfections may not be visible on a 20mp body for a particular lens, but may be way too visible on a 50mp 5dsr. Or the 85mm for instance, the 1.2 is amazingly sharp and a 1.2, but was always plagued by the frustratingly slow AF. so many would use the 85mm 1.8 for concert photography or faster moving action because it could keep up, even though it obviously was less sharp than the 1.2.

It might also be useful to look at the dxomark page to compare, but those stats are way too technical and sometimes inconsequential.

I just watched his video on the lens lol. He seems to give it a positive review and he reviewed it from a more technical perspective. I want to believe the categories that he harped on it for would be less critical in a casual scenario. Will continue my research. Thank you for the help!

This is assuming we're talking about college/university but to be fair, there are many colleges now that require you have a laptop or similar device prior to arriving on campus. Yes, there are classes where handwritten notes are much more favored, like math or whatever else. But for literature courses, writing courses, English courses in general then a laptop is a very beneficial tool. Also, most schools very prominently use a form of online assignment website/portal that is highly important and usually has to be accessed throughout the day and in class. Pen and paper solely won't cut it for most if not all work.

Yeah pretty much. I suppose that is good to hear. I'm gonna eye a few listings for 980's and 980Ti's and see what I can pick one up for.

As long as you're not trying to stream to twitch or whatever while playing you should be fine. CPU intensive games may suffer a little bit, but for the most part you should be okay.

If you can get a 980ti for around $250 then I would say jump on that.  Some can achieve 1070 ti scores in benchmarks and that impresses me. Of course heat and power will be higher than a newer 10 series card, but I have no idea how they compare to your current 770.

    And use http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-980-Ti-vs-AMD-RX-580/3439vs3923

If you can, buy used from face to face deals. There's a lot of fake cards on ebay at the moment. They're usually easy to spot and appear to be priced too good to be true.

GTX 970 will probably be 20-30% better than your current card, or if you can find it at a reasonable price then a GTX 980 would be a pretty decent step up. Otherwise a 1060 6GB if you wanted to go new. The 1060 6GBs retail for around $300-$330 depending on the model.

The GTX 980ti definitely would be better, but the RX 580 would come close to the GTX 980. If you had a FreeSync monitor then I would say go the RX 580 over a GTX 980. (assuming they're both the same price)

Its a nice image, but you should have taken your DSLR. I assume this wasn't shot in RAW, you'd be able to do quite a lot in post to make this really pop. Don't baby your camera, if it gets wet so be it, It probably will be ok, DSLRs are tough stuff. I was just outside with my admittedly weather sealed 5d in the pouring rain, I think I was more damaged than the Camera.

The lighting is a bit off, the bridge is too dark and the highlight in the middle is too blown, you can also see that the middle pillar that's right in front of the sun is too blown out. the sea in the foreground is a bit too dark. Try importing it in LR and you should get a much better result with a grad and some slider adjustments, although if it is indeed in JPG, not much can be done (I believe some phones do shoot raw, not sure if the 6s does though.) 6/10.
