@Devryd - sorry to chime in late to this thread. With the Commander Pro, can set each fan port to 4-pin, 3-pin or Auto so yes, it'll work fine with 3-pin fans.

If you only need single core performance and gmaing, you dont need the 5900x. The 5600x would be sufficient.

10th gen intel is also pretty bad
    I would choose zen2 before getting a 14nm chip in 2021
And 11th gen Intel is a lot better than 10th gen

I build my computer and also a few computers for friends. I also build a custom water loop for a friend and did hardline copper tubing on mine. Its all pretty easy if you watch a few videos. Building a normal PC is really just like Lego with fewer parts

Its pretty easy, and a great learning experience, I would recommend doing it, I think most people where afraid of doing their first build until they did it too.

If you want to wait until the prices fall, wait with your post. Its not likely that the GPU prices will fall any time soon and at the end of the year Intel will release new processors, so it might be different then

As for the thermal paste, it might not be the best performance, but I think it will do for the build

    that would be really annoying
producing a laptop in 2020 with only 4GB of ram is practically producing e-waste

If you are upgrading, I would go straight to 16GB
    even 8 isn't a whole lot today
also, 16GB of ram doesn't cost a lot today
get a 1TB ssd too and you will have a pretty fast machine

you might want to look at your autostart programs
and yes, switching to and ssd will help a lot, but 7 mins seems like a lot

yes sorry, I didnt know the correct english word
Then maybe try to switch to an SSD
If that is not an option, reinstall windows. 7 Mins without a lot of startup programs is to long even for an HDD

windows has an internal tool to defragment the HDD and it also doesnt work, if you have an SSD installed, to not wear it unnecessarily

You can get windows 10 keys for about 10$, at least here in germany. You can spend a little less on the power supply. but its fine. If you are just gaming, the 5600x would be a better cpu than the 3800x

No problem. I will try that then, thanks.
I am currently building a gameboy "zero" but with a rpi 4. I took of the ethernet jack and the usb ports to get it to fit. now I need to connect the usb ports and the power directly to the board

there are many videos online on how to build a pc.
Its actually not that hard. I built mine a few years ago with only youtube as help and it worked out fine. I needed about 2-3 hours, but I was really slow and insecure.

I also dont think you need the 5900x for that use case. The 5600x or, at most the 5800x will be sufficient.
