Mister Woof reacted to Stahlmann in RTX 3080 GDDR6X temp concerns
Lol, where do you see them for $1050? All RTX 3000 cards are at least 600€ over MSRP here in Germany. The cheapest RTX 3000 card that is currently in stock is a 3060Ti for 1030€. And that's the official retailer pricing, not even a scalper.

At lest we have plenty of Zen3 stock and for decent prices 😅

Mister Woof reacted to LIGISTX in 64 gb of ram for 250 worth it in a budget build?
250 bucks for 64 GB of RAM isn't "a good deal" tho. And its only 3200 MHz... You can get 32 GB of 3600 for under 200 bucks, 3600 > 3200, especially when 32 GB is PLENTY. For gaming, you would do better with less RAM that is faster then more RAM that is slower. So, define "good deal". Its really not a great deal at all, and pointless for your build.

If he offered you it for a "good deal" which would be maybe ~150, then maybe, depending on budget and other parts. But 250 is more then I would sell 64 GB of used RAM on craiglist or offer up for, let alone my brother. At that point, for 50 bucks more, I could get brand new 3600 MHZ... https://www.amazon.com/Mushkin-Redline-Black-Dual-Channel-MRC4U360JNNM32GX2/dp/B08MSZTN7L/ref=sr_1_17?dchild=1&keywords=64gb+ram&pldnSite=1&qid=1614839255&sr=8-17 not saying you at all should consider this, but my point is 250 bucks "isn't a good deal" and doesn't make sense considering you were cross shopping with an 80 dollar kit and this would delay your build. If you want to just "waste" money, get a better GPU.... not more RAM. (not being rude, just getting to the point 🙂 )

Well you'll never be at a 100% on both so either the CPU is limiting or the GPU is limiting. This changes throughout gameplay and even with the best hardware it's not going to completely go away.

This is part of why reviewers report 1% and 0.1% lows.

I tried my best:) that one was almost flat, but the other 29 pins are perfectly in order now. Its not that hard, just time consuming

Probably a touch or two low on v-core. Mine won't do 5ghz on that low (1.350v) stable either. Woof above, look at his sig for reference. 1.385v.

That doesn't really sound like a CPU overclock issue, although that could manifest in a lot of different ways.

ram is not seated correctly or you broke something? It is not that hard to break something on the ram or the motherboard since they do not have a heatsink. but unlikely.
they have to be seated wrong. also cmos reset can help

if you are having problem with load stability, increase the voltage slightly more.

If you are having problems with vdroop, use a different LLC

if you are getting random crashes when idle, change ur cpu power management from 5% to about 45%, that should raise ur idle voltage to about 0.9v instead of 0.6v i sometimes see on minimum settings. ur idle cpu power draw will go from 4w to about 8-10w though.

Mister Woof reacted to MageTank in Intel is dropping its overclocking focused warranty
I've never met a single person that used it, mostly because it didn't cover the more exotic cooling solutions that were often required to overclock these Intel processors in the first place (delidding/liquid metal, die sanding, IHS lapping, etc).

That, and Intel nor the retailer you purchased the CPU from could tell if the chip was damaged from overclocking unless you felt morally obligated to tell them.

Mister Woof reacted to Mark Kaine in Is the RTX 3080/70 stock situation actually worse now than it's ever been?
While I feel like I'm repeating myself, that's exactly why I got my card in December, I knew waiting until February or so wouldn't be the best idea... and while I think I didn't pay 'msrp', I paid like 570 euros... the card now goes for upwards of 1200 euros... so yeah, feels like it was the right decision, plus I never anticipated to get a high end nvidia card for under 500 bucks, that's just unrealistic, and that's why I call the real 'msrp' fake, they never intended to sell a lot of these, at those bargain bin prices, on the contrary they obviously knew supply would be highly limited, so this is more a 'goodwill' price if anything...

It has to because Intel 6000 and above CPU's use DDR4 RAM (aside from a couple of very weird motherboards in the Skylake days which had slots for both DDR3 and DDR4).
