  1. I think there is an option that you do not want to make a Microsoft account or just using a local account instead during installation without having to disconnect to the internet. It is just written in small font size on the setup screen so make sure to read and find it.

According to an article from CNET, around 17,000 Android apps have been tracking users even opted out of interest-based ads or Personalized Ads by linking Advertising ID to device's identifiers (i.e. MAC address, IMEI, and Android ID.) This is nothing new, to be honest The original post is correct: Microsoft has been linked of gathering data via aggressive telemetry But then again, that was Windows, and Windows is just one product of Microsoft; and as for politics: one lawsuit/complaint per product. Now, we're seeing Office, and according to the article: the Dutch regulators would "end all violations" if Microsoft complied with the "improvement plan" that the regulators provided - table on the PDF; or on above post (located under Column 3: "Possible Measure Microsoft) I'll see how this story develops.
