  1. Ok thank you I'll check it out.
  2. Sorry I totally forgot I posted this here. We eventually just ended up having me configure everything. Thanks a bunch though.
  3. Hi there! I have a school project which involves setting up an Pterodactyl server panel on Linux, a monitoring program (Cacti) and a website. It's all hosted on my home systems (2 old PC's) which both run Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. I have a selection of domains I plan to connect to the different local servers, where the web panels of the tools are situated. I read online I can do this with a reverse proxy? But I wonder If I can't just make my Raspberry Pi a DNS server to forward the domains to my local server IP's. My RBPi also has Ubuntu installed. Is this possible? Thanks in advance.
  4. Mainly just installing packages and configuring various packages. But I don't want them to be able to access the root directories, only their own home directory so they can install everything there. None of us have a lot of experience with Linux, we were just thrown into the deep end. So I don't want to reinstall the OS every day, if that makes sense. But thanks for the replies. I'm going to try it this afternoon. I'll keep u posted! I didn't think it could be so easy.
  5. Hi! I have a school project where we have a DevOps assignment. For this project there are a number of different people working on it. All students from my class. I want to give them an account so they can SSH into my server (running Ubuntu 18.04) and use that account to do sudo tasks, but only in certain folders (their own home directory). This is primarily so they don't mess up the rest of my system. Then I did some research and found SELinux. There seems to be a way to do this with that program. But then I read some worrying things: It can lock your whole system
  6. Yup you're totally right. But I learned a lot today and that's all I can ask for. Thanks for the explanation! Have a great day!
  7. Sorry everyone had to go... But I read up on some settings of my router I wasn't familiar with and apparently this was on; So it's all sorted now! I feel so dumb. Thanks for all the help though!
  8. Yeah, like I said... 400 Mbps is already in Megabit though. Look it up, it's the right abbreviation. 400 Mbps is indeed 50 MB/s not Mbps. lol It's all in the capitalization m8. I'm studying to be a network administrator (my first year though), so I'm not dumb. I just thought maybe someone could give me some insight into why it's so slow, because my local network is also slow, which it shouldn't. But if you need a speedtest... My max speed at ISP level now is 200 Mbps, upload is 20 Mbps. Also there are no obstructions and my router is not in range of any other 5 Ghz net
  9. I bought a Lenovo Y740 last year and it has a Killer Wireless-AC 1550i WiFi card with a theoretical speed of 1.73 Gbps. I also have a Netgear Nighthawk R7000 as an acces point with a theoretical speed of 1.3 Gbps on the 5 GHz band. My max speed however, is only 173.3 Mbps (Which you can see in the screenshot down below). I don't know why this is, but I can't get it too go higher. I'm only a half meter away from the router most of the times with no obstructions. I'm at the end of my rope here. I really don't understand why it doesn't go any higher than that. A
  10. You mean when I unlock the taskbar? No I'm afraid not.
  11. I used to have all my system icons (like the wifi, sound and battery icon) in the notification area of my taskbar. Now I can only have one. I have them all turned on @ Taskbar settings > Turn System Icons On or Off. But if I turn on one or another it just replaces the one that was already there. I don't know what to do about it and Google search came back with all different kind of sulotions to problems I don't have. I now have the wifi icon up, because that's the most important one for me ATM. And this how my "taskbar" / "system icon" settings looks
  12. Damn I just checked my BIOS settings and it was on "switchable graphics". I now put it on "discrete GPU" again and it works!! I feel so dumb. Thx for the help though. Much appreciated.
  13. I haven't changed anything in my BIOS though. And like I said; I remember there being more options (like 3 dropdown menu's), because I actually changed some of them when I just got my laptop a month ago. But I had not heard about Nvidia Optimus before. I'll look into it. Thanks
  14. I tried reverting to older drivers, but it's the same outcome. I also disabled the iGPU and got this message when I tried to open the Nvidia Control Panel.
  15. No worries m8, thx for the help either way. That's why I don't find any solutions I guess... But I'm 100% sure it had more options like 1 month ago.
