sushimus reacted to minibois in How to browse eBay like I'm in Romania?
Doesn't seem like eBay has a Romanian version:

If the person you're trying to help is from Romania, ask them if they 'just' browse the normal eBay.com or some other URL.
You're probably going to have to try to use a VPN to 'spoof' your location as Romania.

Pokemon kinda sucks as a franchise.

    I said it.

They were innovative on the gameboys, its only gone stale and old since.

Mega evolutions were a mistake too.

sushimus got a reaction from Eschew in Help Finding RGB Keyboard
Lads and lassies I need your help, Ive been tasked with finding a keyboard for someone and I don't keep up with keyboards much. It needs to have decent rgb, at least be like a mechnical keyboard, and be like 70$ tops.

So far Ive found the Corsair K55 and Razor BlackWidow, are either of these worth looking into or is there a better keyboard for this?
    Any help is appreciated 🙂

@Trebblebob @Downkey They dont care if its exactly mechanical, they just like the clickity sounds those keyboards make. Also noted Downkey, Ill have to look at some reviews to see just how loud we're talking

@hirusha.adikari I dont think they're technically inclined enough to use macros much, though I might teach them about that.. I just linked it cause Ive seen nothing but good reviews about it and its pretty cheap

Using a radiator to cool your tank will not be able to cool the water off much below ambient air temperature.

If you really need to keep the temp down, get a tank cooler.

    What is your target temperature?

I refuse to play until I get multiple customizations sliders for my pp and also it needs to have the option to glow in full rgb spectrum if desired.

Also if I ever played as a lady Id want more than one option and if I wanted to blind someone by opening my legs, then I'd better be able to blind them damnit!

I recommend using IsThereAnyDeal.com, for both games you want and games you already own
You can get notifications for sales on Steam resellers or other shopfronts or only Steam as you wish

I got all the way to selecting a store, then store by store pick up was unavailable until there werent any within 250 miles. Fuck me.

Worth noting I actually waited outside my local bestbuy for like an hour before they opened to be safe, then all the employees just used the online system to check availability anyways. Big rips.

sushimus reacted to Sakuriru in [java] General question about performance
If you believe your loop can be replaced by an if-else or vice versa you're doing something very wrong. I've seen this code pattern where people will use a for loop in place of a bunch of if-else blocks and it's always bad.

As for the performance impact don't worry about it. Just write what's readable and leave the optimizations to the compiler 🙂

sushimus reacted to Franck in [java] General question about performance
For small amount of checks and IF...ELSE has the advantage of having all cases written down and it's easier to follow than a loop when debugging. With a loop you have to write an if else statement in it to check when the values is X and put the break point on, for the normal if...else it's already there.

sushimus reacted to trag1c in [java] General question about performance
As @Sakurirustated foreach and ifs are very different. A foreach loop is for traversing a collection of objects with no explicit counter. Its essentially do this for every object in the collection vs a regular for loop is more akin to do this x number of times.

If() statements allow the programmer to make decisions using conditional expressions that evaluate to a Boolean (true/false) value. These decisions are known as branches which are separate actions or computations to be taken upon a Boolean result.

Switch statements are for comparing some value against (typically) constants taking action (branching) up on the first constant matched with the value. Switch statements also provision a default action (equivalent to an else statement) if no constants are matched. Switches may be optimized by the compiler into a look up table (LUT) which can improve performance.

If you're ever encountering performance issues its time to bust out the profiler and look into the assembly code as well (I guess byte code in java's case. idk never really used java much.) CPU architectures can also play a pivotal role in performance of any control flow mechanisms due to branch prediction as well so know your hardware!

Just remember KISS: Keep it simple stupid. Good clean code is good optimization in it self because it makes it easier to make optimizations once you're sure you need them. Ugly code is no bueno. (unless you're positive its a one off piece that is not critical then f*** it, be lazy  )

A foreach and if-else are two different control flow mechanisms. They're not directly comparable. One is a loop and the other is a branch.
