hollyh88 reacted to LAwLz in RTX 3070 Reviews Are Here - 2080 Ti Performance for $499 (3060 Ti Confirmed?)
    "Very minimal"?
Compared to the previous gen the 3070 has ~60% higher performance per dollar (33% compared to the 2070 Super). A 33-60% generational improvement is not exactly "minimal".
Sure the 5700X had similar price to performance ratio, but that was in a completely different tier when it comes to performance and price.

110 dollars for 20 FPS has a similar price to performance ratio as 300 dollars for 60 FPS, but one will provide a far better experience. This card is a massive improvement in performance if you got 500 dollars to spend.

It's a 2080 Ti for 500 dollars that uses quite a bit less power and has some extra features like AV1 decoding and HDMI 2.1.

The only difference between "greed" and "good business" is whether you like the company and don't want to put them in a bad light, or not.

I base my "real world prices" on the prices we consumers can buy these products for.
If I want to order a processor today, what amount of money do I have to pay to get a certain processor. That's my "real world prices".

What does that mean? I assume you mean the 3600X so that's what I will pretend that you wrote.
Yes it exists, and it costs 90 dollars less than the 5600X's suggested price.
I also believe the 3600X was terrible value when it launched. The X basically stood for "donator edition", because it was essentially a way to just give AMD more money without getting anything in return. That's why it sold waaaay less than the 3600 which didn't include a small donation to AMD. I also believe that's why AMD isn't launching the non-X version at the same time this generation.
Because the X processors have always been pointless to buy. They might as well come with a card saying "thanks for the extra money, dumbass".

People do it to get more out of the products they spend their money on. You can increase your performance Without having to spend more for extra performance. It does help real life. A few fps can be the difference between 52 fps and 60+ fps. It matters to some also in a way as more of a hobby. Seeing how far they can push something.

    But ultimately..
Free extra performance is free extra performance right? So why would anyone not do something like so?

If you are lucky you may get a 3600 made in 2020 in week 14+ orso. These will perform better than even the 3600x in most cases. Even when overclocking.

    ehm no.
    3600 released at 200
    3700x released at 330
which is what im comparing it with. so 100 more for a 5600x and 120-130 more (3700x released here for some reason in NLD at varied prices some at 320 some at 330) for a 5800x.

    not the same?

eh no they are the same.
50 isnt much money. its about the value of that money. and its not again 50 bucks. its 100 bucks since again as others and i keep saying. the 3600 and 3600x ARE THE SAME.
    3700x vs 3800x
    hey look. same again.
    also, basically the same.

this is what people are pointing to. they did a +50 ON THE PRODUCTS THAT DIDNT HAVE ANY VALUE TO BEGIN WITH. THAT is why people dissagree with the pricing. AND what's even worse, is that they do not give you an option this time around to buy a 5600 model or 5700x BECAUSE THEY KNOW they would again be the same shit as the 5600x and 5800x like last time. THAT is what people do not like about these new cpu's. No one cares that they went up in price. That is normal. But the way how they did it. is bad.

I simply expect new products to be better than the old ones, including value.
If they don't do that then I will say the product has bad value and shouldn't be recommended except in edge cases. Simple as that. I really don't see why so many people feel the need to try and arguing against me when I have simply said "the last gen stuff offers better price to performance. People should buy that instead".

I don't agree. I think that if you need high performance then it is better to buy the higher tier 3000 series chips.
For example you can get a 12 core 3000 series for cheaper than the 8 core 5000 series chip. The 12 core will perform better in applications that actually need that much CPU horsepower.

The only people on this forum who should be recommended the Ryzen 5000 series are the same people who were recommended Intel CPUs before because of they needed the highest possible single core performance above all else. The ones that would gladly sacrifice 30% multicore performance for 10% higher single core performance.
Everyone else that got recommended the 3000 series from AMD should continue to get Ryzen 3000 series chips recommended to them.

They should absolutely charge more. However. They should charge more fairly. Charging 50 bucks more over the 3600x when the 3600 is literally the same is stupid.

Not releasing a 5700x is also a pretty shitty move from them. They saw that the 3700x was better than the 3800x so they literally took it out of the starting lineup to force people to buy the 5800x if they want a new 8 core cpu. Which is very greedy. Especially since the 3700x and 3800x (it's a 3700x and the 3700x is a 3700)were and are virtually the same. Yet they charge 130 more because screw you.

But yes. Nothing to complain about here. You are perfectly right. Not.

thats listing a cpu that isnt even available and has been replaced (not officially but still) by the i9 10850k which can be gained here in NLD for 450-465 which is around a 100 bucks less then the 5900x no doubt it will even become less as time progresses. so them comparing it to the 10900k was pretty stupid. and even then. here in NLD i can buy a 10900k for 515 which is still cheaper than the 5900x.

you sure about that? but whether they will release it or not isnt the point here. the point here is that RIGHT NOW at release on nov 5 the 5800x is the only 8 core you can get. So going by that.. the first 8 core you could get with zen 2 was the 3700x. this is 120-130 more. for only a 19% ipc increase and lets behonest at 1440p? not so much. and who the hell buys an 450 euro cpu when gaming at 1080p anyway?

so this is kinda a ripoff. i get it. they are king now. however these types of price increases arent good. they are greedy. no inflation bs or yeah they are the best now can save them. people shitted on intel over it. and they can do the same then at amd. 450 for an 8 core is way to high when at zen 2 you had a 12 core for 50 more than that. so value? pretty bad.

now.. if the 5700x was also released as an 8 core at around 350-380 and the 5800 was an 10 core at 420-450 now that would be better value BUT IT AINT.

not at that they dont. because they put it against the 10700k not the 10900k and since amd in their slides said it is on par with the 10700k at 1080p gaming... welll...

    https://www.tomshardware.com/news/amd-zen-3-ryzen-5000-announcement-19-percent-ipc-1080p-gaming-lead
so its not going to beat the 10900k.
which funnily enough is replaced by the 10850k. and is currently available foooor.... yep. 450 bucks. now yes you need better cooling and shit like that. but still 450 for an 8 core in 2020? ehh thats a far stretch.
not worth it. and who the hell even buys this cpu and games at 1080p? everyone i know with these high end parts do not play at 1080p

yeah but as i stated somewhere else too. the 3700x was pretty much comparable with the 3800x. the 3800x was then a useless buy especially at that price. and now they want to charge you even 120 more for an 8 core? in 2020?

That's not the issue here. The issue here is that an 8 core 16 thread part launched at 320. This new 8 core costs you 120-130 more. In one and a half year time. Thats too much

r20 needs a bit more Oomph.

Not spent much time running r20 but i had a play with the new CTR software recently which does some automatic per CCX overclocking with the r20 benchmark built in.

It arrived at  CCX 1-4475MHz  and  CCX 2-4450MHz  running 1.275v with LLC level 3.  I'm fairly certain i could get a bit more manually just haven't got round to it yet.

    It's not 50.
    100 more for a 6 core
3600 is the same as 3600x

120-130 more for an 8 core.
3700x was better value and equal performing vs the 3800x.

It's not for 2 of them.
    3600 and 3600x are comparable.
    Thus 100 more for a 6 core.

3700x and 3800x are comparable. 3800x was a waste of money.
Thus 120-130 more for an 8 core. 450 for a fucking 8 core man.

The only good one here is the 3900x and 5900x that is 50 more.

These prices are way to high.
If they increased the core count it would be great. But they didnt. So these prices suck. Really really suck.
