    Hey, we've all been there.

Arrgh. p17311 is messing up my attempts to benchmark folding performance. It is consistently about 20-22% under the PPD for moonshot WUs. It is huge, with over 207,000 atoms, but appears to have gone straight into FaH without going through Beta first where an adjustment might have been noted.

It is impressive with current production at:
004 Members >20 MPPD 011 Members >10 MPPD 037 Members >05 MPPD 242 Members >02 MPPD 695 Members >01 MPPD but I expect things to slow down a bit with the end of folding month and people seeing their Electricity Bills 😱

Are you adding a modest overclock - +50-75?

    Im using +50

It's not that difficult - same as Linux just have to use the Windows Scheduler.

    To Set slots to Finish:
    FAHClient --send-finishTo resume:
FAHClient --send-unpauseI send the finish at 05:30 as my TOU rates start at 07:00 and that works for me but YMMV

    Set a lower power-limit using
    nvidia-smi -pm 1 nvidia-smi -i 0 -pl 95 nvidia-smi -i 1 -pl 95
    Then set an overclock.

same effect as an under volt

-2C here at night these days. Even with only 10 GPUs folding now 7pm-7am I don’t even have to crack the basement window anymore.

Gave in to the whining and turned the heat on the other day

I’d settle for a 3080. Heck I’d even pay MSRP.

Hi all!  I have been watching the Linus Media Group's youtube stuff for awhile, and I've also been contributing to Folding@Home for awhile.  I just recently figured out how to set my team, and I finally signed up for a forums account.  I had 9,500,000 points, but I guess they don't transfer over to the team when I switch.  Oh well, starting from scratch!

Finally got my 50 years Diamond Badge for OpenPandemics on World Community Grid:

If you think accumulating badges on F@H is slow try watching paint dry on BOINC doing CPU projects

    I feel your pain:

Unlike gaming folding is a slow and steady thing. Try sliding the power limit slider in Afterburner all the way to the left and you should see a massive decrease in Power from the GPU and only a slight decrease in Points per Day (PPD).

Likewise down clocking the CPU or adjusting PowerPlay Tables/BIOS limits can tame the heat from the CPU.

Both the CPU and GPU have exponential increases in Power required for small increases in performance.

I don’t fold on my CPUs, just the GPUs but I do use the CPUs for BOINC as their wattage is almost negligible compared to the GPUs.

For the GPUs I run them at a “titch” just above the minimum power limit which greatly reduces the heat with only a very small ~5-10% reduction in PPD. Likewise, the CPUs can be under-volted/under-clocked/power tables adjusted for a significant decrease in power with a similar much less significant heat output.

You can also use FAHclient commands and CRON (Unix) or the Windoze Command Scheduler to “finish” slots before the hot periods and “unpause” them during not so hot periods which is also useful as the “hot” periods generally align with when electricity rates get more expensive in many regions.

I have absolutely no idea what changed but it works now.
Decided to detach and reattach (and thus log out and log back in) and the join button appeared.
I am now attached to PrimeGrid and have joined the team LinusTechTips_Team.

BOINC estimates I'll finish in 31 hours.
But the time to completion is going up one second every second.

Couldn’t resist those bundles on Ryzeen CPUs and motherboards. Picked up a 3600x and a Gigabyte Aorus Pro WiFi b450m. The 3600x went in one of the kids motherboards and the 2700 that fell out of the motherboard went in the b450 in a micro ATX case that was sitting empty. So another 16 threads for WCG.

Not too bad at 90W at the wall.

Upped all my systems to 1GB/thread while memory was still cheap and that’s allowed me to repurpose a i5-6400 motherboard in another empty micro ATX case with some 4GB DDR4-2400 sticks that fell off the bottom of the RAM upgrade. Only another 4 threads but every bit helps so that puts me up to 102 threads.

I see @miker07 is back on WCG with his army of Threadrippers, 3950 and he seems to have won the lottery and added a 5950x as well. It will still take him a little while to roll past me though 😀

Im regretting not picking up a another Aorus Master and 3950x while that sale was on though but I want to keeps some $ around for when my number comes up in the queue at EVGA for a 3080.

I have officially joined the F@H team this morning. Been meaning to do it for a long time, just never did. Been folding for an hour or so already:
