HPE Marketing: made-in-USA servers
origin of parts: china, china, Korea, china, china, china ...
SpoilerOnly part made in the USA is toilet paper.
They didn't even tried to make simple parts in the USA like the injection molded shrouds or sheet metal parts and at this point, it pisses me off if you label/market it so extensively as made in the USA (like "Hewlett Packard Enterprise becomes the only major server manufacturer to ship world’s most secure industry-standard, made-in-USA servers"). Either be fair and pass it off as assembled in the USA or buy parts that still can be made outside of china, not in china.

Normally I don't look at smart data for new drives but I probably should:
200 GB written, 30 power cycles, 130 power on hours
WTF. Welcome to my blacklist.

Are those 24 pin magnetic usb-c adapter (in reality) thunderbolt 4 compatible and safe?
If so they might be worth it. Since the Thinkpad offers only 1 typ-c (which is the only charging port ... so more like 0 typ-c
) I would need three of them. At this point I could rage about how bad a single typ-c which is used for charging is in a few years from now when typ-c is the normal.

Anybody played with self mixing laser?
Slight issue the cheapest diode I can get within days usable for this is a 405 nm 50 mW
Only benefit of such a strong diode for the first try is that 0.005% return is still 2.5 µW hitting the photodiode. Might dissambel some CD-drives later to check if they have a PD included.

Just making sure, you have the appropriate laser goggles, right? Don't want you experiencing accidental eye damage.

@Schnoz. You mean IIIb is already dangerous? O.o
Good think I don't need to (mechanically) interact with it so it can all be in a enclosure. I think this would technically still count as IIIb if there are no interlocks.
